I’m not familiar with the race records of the colts running in that race, but there are some impressive pedigrees.
Here are the past performances for the race.

Sorry, I don’t think that link works. I have no idea why.
Race 8 https://www.nyra.com/aqueduct/racing/replays
Midnight Chrome 3rd. The field was outrun 9 1/2 lengths by the 1st and 2nd place runners.
The Chromes seem like a pretty nice little group of horses. Maybe not stakes level; (yet), but a nice group adding fun to their ownerships.
Anyone else have a general consensus on them?
Pet peeve- a consensus is, by definition, general.
The statistics so far show that his get have not been able to run and win in G1 company.
He has a few (G2) stakes fillies. Most are claimers, a few running MSW and allowance races with differing rates of success.
Not bad, but not reproducing his talent, though I don’t think anyone familiar with TB breeding really expected him to and that’s why he was sold to Japan. His foal crops in the U.S. were mostly unimpressive.
He has crops on the way from Japanese bred mares. We’ll see if he does better with them.
In all fairness, he’s only had 2 crops to the races. Getting Grade 2 runners is doing well; its extremely difficult getting a Grade 1 winner. Having a couple of Grade 2 fillies is an accomplishment for a stallion who was discarded after only a few crops on the ground.
I cant figure out how to change my post, but I believe he’s had 2 crops to the races, not one. Even still, having two grade 2 fillies in his first couple of crops isnt bad, considering he was expected to be a total flop.
Yes, I did say in my post that it was “not bad”.
There is nothing in California Chrome’s record that would indicate that he could produce winners. A win percentage of 50% is not impressive.

Warning, very loud trumpet starts before any action in this video. Can be embarrassing in a crowded setting. Or at work.

California Chrome
He looks good & in nice condition. Not a chubs like so many studs I see here in the States.
Looking good and definitely feeling good and frisky.
