Aren’t the “knowledgeable industry bloggers” that you follow, aware of the sale price of California Chrome, since they are so “knowledgeable” about everything CC related?
I think the infamous California Chrome page listed the sales price at around $19M, and they were complaining about the high price that they couldn’t afford. Guess they wanted to turn him out in somebody’s back yard and treat him like a pet. At least that’s where I saw the price listed.
I missed all the “fun”.
It is indeed a rather odd statement that bad things might befall Chrome’s offspring only in Japan. Seriously? Blinders on? Rather reminiscent of the worst of the outraged, clueless, rabid Chromies saying he would be abused, not understand the language, die from bad feed/hay, be killed for insurance in a dastardly scam, turned into sushi/sashimi (constant references to Ferdinand with many apparently thinking that happened as recently as a couple of years ago) and most heinous crime of all - not having Mrs. Pasture’s cookies stuffed at him constantly.
The extreme Chromies have done far more harm to their precious pet than any good/support.
It was just a really off the wall political rant about a past president that had nothing to do with CC or racing. I quoted and responded to it and the next day when it was still there I reported it to Mod1.
It is par for the course that these people, now that they can’t worry about the treatment about CC without looking dumb, have transferred their obsession to his get.
There are enough actual problems in the world. It’s difficult to understand why anyone would feel the need to invent fictitious ones, but obviously that mindset is out there.
They could have had that 2yr old colt for 8k. It was funny when the auctioneer said “where are the Chromies?”
@rinny - yes, where were the Chromies with their winning bid? You only post in threads related to CC and seem to know all sorts of s…tuff - maybe you have… connections.
I did not mean to stir up a hornets nest! I have not read on any legitimate site where there was posted a sales price of California Chrome. Seems odd that there is no link to an authentic horse racing site.
It is so important in these times that equestrians be taken seriously.
Says the person who went off on a weird political rant and had their post edited. You are not advancing the cause of being taken seriously.
The price paid for TB race horses that are sold privately, is not usually announced to the public.
The horse was not sold at auction, so no “authentic horse racing site” will be telling you the sale price of a horse that was sold privately, unless the buyer decides to announce it to the press, which they usually don’t.
People in the racing business will have an idea what he was sold for, it’s a small world.
Since he was not auctioned, if you feel it is your right to know exactly how much Arrow Stud paid for the horse, you’ll have be incredibly rude and ask them directly.
If you are OK with a general figure, then I would take the word of the racing folks that post here.
Indeed. Midnight rants about what “Industry bloggers…both experienced and Amateur” are saying (say what on that?) demanding links to unpublished information? Nobody on here has said they saw the signed contract. Rather that the race tracks are a small community and the heart of the breeding side of the industry is a small Southern town with the best Equine health practitioners and facilities serving many from other disciplines. And people like to talk, no real secrets, maybe not completely detailed and specific but usually pretty accurate as far as the basics.
Find it odd to complain about links when the Chromie page itself cited 19 million. That’s far more specific then what I heard from several people last fall, which was above his lifetime earnings but below 20. Simple math there.
Interesting. After many a summer dies the swan.
What on earth does an Aldous Huxley novel have to do with California Chrome, and your concern that “in these times it is so important that equestrians be taken seriously”? I’d love to know.
Are you reading Huxley in school or just for fun? How do you think his novel relates to the subject at hand?
Believe me, the fact that the stallion’s sale price has not been published is not a blight on the equestrian community that will cause them not to be “taken seriously”.
Don’t worry about it.
If you believe that quoting the title of a novel, especially without attributing the source, contributes anything to the conversation, or your desire to ensure that “equestrians be taken seriously”, you are sadly mistaken.
The more you continue to post this sort of nonsense, the more you will not be taken seriously.
You seem very young. Try to educate yourself before spouting off. There are plenty of experienced people here, and they are generous with their knowledge.
I am so sorry. I did not realize that you were an industry blogger. I certainly will be more careful in the future.
Once again, you are making no sense whatsoever.
Well she’s twelve…
I can see this facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/CaliforniaChrome1/ If the comments there are indicative of the collective intelligence of the Chromies, we shouldn’t be surprised that this poster is making no sense.
It seems the horse is healthy and is now covering mares.
I regret clicking on the comments.
Sorry. :o I looked, hoping to see some progress in their understanding of horses and horse care. I was disappointed. It’s quite an embarrassing representation of the U.S. racing “fan”. Ignorant and rude.
Arrow Stud must realize that they bought a horse that came with a bunch of ding bat “fans”. Hopefully they know this phenomenon is an anomaly, but I wouldn’t blame them if they stopped having a facebook page altogether.
Oh it’s my fault! I just wasn’t expecting that level of ignorance. I think they hit a new low.
As far as the poster here, I think they are just very young not actually ignorant. The repeated use of “industry blogger” leads me to believe that.
@rinny while I don’t know how many of those we have here, I do know we have people in the industry that actually work with the horses instead of just writing about them.
For me, I’ll take the opinions and thoughts of people who actually work in various aspects of the racing (both TB and harness and we have both here) over ‘bloggers’ any day (unless the blogger is someone I recognize by name & reputation
The quote function is not functioning. To Denali, It certainly seems like a young persons writing, but even young folks can have a dialog with other people that makes sense, can they not?
Admittedly, I don’t spend much time around young people so I’m not in a position to know how to best interact with the ones that attempt (and fail) to interact with adults. I’ve become somewhat inured to rudeness by adults online, but I’m still surprised by the rude kids.
Who would that be?
