Capone 1 mixup?

My heart goes out to those mare owners effected. I can’t even pretend to understand how you all feel right now.

But this thread is better then any movie I’ve seen in ages. I’m on the edge of my seat to see how this all plays out. Truth really is stranger than fiction!

I did see a sale ad today for a DNA verified Capone 1 foal. Ad stated that Capone is no longer available for breeding. Unbelievable.

That is my colt. SO stated in a previous post on this thread that he’s no longer available

If the egg was from the same family as the clone, the mtDNA would be the same.

beautiful colt. So has owner of Capone said he’s no longer available? Is he dead?

Search back in this thread a couple of pages…SO says he’s no longer available

Would someone explain the differences in the stallion being described as Holsteiner and the colt mentioned in this thread that is for sale being listed as Dutch. Please be kind, I know nothing about the warmblood registries and am asking only to educate myself not disparage anyone. Thanks.

Generally, registration happens as a foal. Once an adult, a horse can be approved for breeding with several different warmblood registries. My thoroughbred mare can have Dutch Warmblood, Swedish Warmblood, Westfalen, or Oldenburg registered foals, as long as I use a stallion approved for breeding with the aforementioned registries.

@Katona, thanks!

I guess it is true if this was the case but they generally do not bother.

So much for Capone not standing in 2018. I just saw this on her facebook page. It looks like a whole new round of people are at risk. Why has the Holsteiner Association not come out and said something about this to warn people?

Has anyone gotten any resolution from Corinne? I have not heard from her since November.

Is this possibly just a fake “book is full” notice? As in the book was never open in the first place, but this saves face? Seems super early in the season to close a warmblood book. But maybe I’m just dreaming, hoping that more mare owners aren’t put through the wringer this year…

So…is there any current factual news on this? How many foals have not gotten the expected DNA test results? How old are they, when was the semen purchased? How many shipments were affected?

Working on it.

Awesome! I deleted my post because I didn’t read your name correctly. My apologies.

Sugarwells, re-read the user name.

Yes, my mistake , I didn’t read correctly. My apologies.

Any news on this?

I’m coming into this late but was on the edge of my seat reading through the pages.

For anyone who didn’t see it, when questioned on the aformentioned Facebook Post about him retiring, her only response was “He’s retired from Competing :)”… the plot thickens, it seems eye roll.

Someone commented about him being her horse’s dad… It took everything I had to stop my itchy fingers from recommending a DNA test… Oy Vey.
