Chasing Time (Race Hunter ‘19)

The FB groups for all the horses I have shares of are completely ridiculous–I’d be shocked if a lot of the members had ever actually seen a horse in person before. The only reason I stay in them is that a lot of the folks who do attend the farm visits or races tend to post a lot of additional photos, which are often quite nice. And sometimes the updates people copy/paste there from MRH show up before I ever see a notification on my phone from the app.

I was worried something truly awful had happened when he faded so far, so quickly. I’m glad it was something treatable and hope we see him out and running well again, because he’s been a really fun one to follow.

Chasing Time Update

Chasing Time took no time settling in since arriving to WinStar Farm. We caught him snoozing, without a care in the world.

He will be treated a minimum of 5 times in the hyperbaric chamber before being re-examined to decide if he will have additional treatments or return to training at that point.

Chasing Time has completed his series of hyperbaric treatments and rejoined Asmussen’s string at Churchill Downs this morning.

My boyfriend does stained glass, and was inspired to make this piece:

The photo really doesn’t do it justice.

That is incredible!!! He should sell them!

Holy smokes. Post that in the FB group and you’ll be thousandaires in no time.

Sounds like all the hubbub at Churchill has CT jacked up more than they’d like, so he’s getting sent to Belmont Park to keep training with a couple possible races targeted.

From MRH
“Nothing is set in stone yet in terms of a next race for Chasing Time, but he will be nominated to the six-furlong Gold Fever Stakes at Belmont Park on May 15th. Another MRH horse, recent Hutcheson Stakes winner Provocateur, is also targeting this race. So, in order to keep our options open, Chasing Time will also be nominated to the Grade 3 Chick Lang Stakes at Pimlico on May 21st, also run at six furlongs on the Preakness undercard. Both stakes are prep races for the seven-furlong Woody Stephens Stakes at Belmont Park on Saturday, June 11th.”

I entered the paddock lottery for the Preakness Day undercard race. I wasn’t planning on going to the Preakness this year, but if I get in, I’ll definitely be there!

Well, no paddock credentials for me. It’s all good, I wasn’t really looking forward to Preakness Day in 95 degree weather. I have a million and one things to do on the farm and it’s kind of a relief not to lose a weekend day.

I think he’s going to have to step up a bit here to be competitive, but I think it’s definitely a better distance for him. Yay Chase!

I think we’ll see more of the real Chasing Time at a distance he seems better suited for.

I am sort of surprised that Asmussen et al didn’t enter CT somewhere that would allow him to get Lasix, given his bleeding last time out. I will trust them (not that they asked me, lol) that he’s scoping clean and that the hyperbaric therapy worked.

And we have some black type! 3rd! Fast fast race and our poor boy had no room to run. While the win and place horse were much the best, a better trip would have had him closer to them at the end.

He sort of blew the turn, I thought. Pimlico is tight, that’s for sure. But a VERY nice race back!

Yeah, definitely a WTF moment there. Green moment or miscommunication or who knows.

It was a quality field and he held his own. I’m tickled.

It is so blasting hot that I was thrilled to be watching on my phone in the AC instead of from the grandstands.

He finished strongly after a blazing hot pace, too. There’s really nothing to be unhappy about.

Although I think I am going to have to put the Chasing Time FB page on mute. Again.

I agree on all counts. I was delighted with that effort. I’m glad they’ve found a better distance for him.

Well done Chasing Time!

I was really happy with that! The weather here is disgustingly hot and humid, and he hadn’t been back in work all that long. I’ll take 3rd in a stakes race with all that!

The armchair jockeying/training on the FB is ridiculous

Hard to tell from the replay, but did it seem like he ran greenly? Wide on the turn, weaving in the stretch (more than interference from others would account for).

Unofficial report back on Chasing Time, from a microshare holder who spoke to Asmussen’s son after the Preakness, is that the colt cooled out nice and sound and scoped clean. :grinning:
