Chasing Time (Race Hunter ‘19)

Chasing Time is starting from post 5 of six in the Woody Stephens at 2:22 today. He ought to like the 7f distance, but the favorite, Jack Christopher, is a formidable opponent.

Edit: I don’t know why this is, but I roll my eyes at owners who name their racehorses after their kids or grandkids. Like…how creative. There’s some potential for awkward moments explaining to the namesake why Grandpa sold “their” horse, a la Rachel Alexandra.

On the morning line, he had the longest odds in the race. Of course all the MRH owners will beat down the odds.

Running against Grade 1 winners! Asmussen seems very high on him.

He looks good physically. Good luck to @LaurieB and all of you MRH owners.

Jack Christopher was MUCH the best!

Chasing Time was a complete let down. Wish they’d place in more appropriate level races.

Provocateur hung on for 3rd.

Disappointed. I didn’t expect a win, but he showed nothing.

Agreed. I’m obviously not a racing expert, but this seemed like an odd race choice.

Chasing Time does not seem to be a Grade 1 horse. He was beaten up in the Rebel, the Arkansas Derby and now in the Woody Stephens. He seems game, but just not good enough.

Time for a reality check.

Search Results 3rd in the Ogden Phipps… WMW would be thrilled. :pensive: :innocent:

I think right now, at the right distance, he could be a legit G3 horse.
I’m hoping they’ll give him a minute to chill & regroup. Then find a softer race to come back in for his next start.
The feedback from Tyler makes it sound like the blinkers had him more alert, he just was outclassed in this race.

This. He was in against some stiff competition.

Something seemed to irritate him again IMO. He wasn’t on his game.

Maybe some R&R and a confidence booster is in order.

He desperately needs some class relief. Drop him into an allowance or a listed stakes and let him get some confidence back.

Ever pick a registered name for a TB or AQHA baby? Creative spelling or naming it after your kids/grandkids is far less a PITA to get accepted then weeks or months going back and forth until your 22nd choice gets the nod.

And…Im sure Racheal Alexandras name sakes were sad but she was never anybodys beloved childhood Pony they loved on for hours every day for many years. What else would you expect them to say? Of course they cared.

No opinions about his last race? I thought he was game, just ran out of gas at the end on a heavy, sloppy track.

I was happy with the way he ran.
Being that he does not like the slop & was on the inside, he ran the only way he could.
The quick fractions just got to him at the very end.

Not disappointed at all, it appears (to me in my non expert opinion) that sloppy tracks seem to give rise to more upset wins. And he was wicked fast.

Edit: he’s also just out earned his purchase price so that’s a win in my book.

We’re super bummed here; Ellis is fairly local to us and we had planned on going to watch. Due to an unforseen issue, we didn’t get to go. Would love to have cheered him on from the rail.

Will you be able to make it out tomorrow?

I hope he runs well! I think a second race over the same track without shuttling all around will do him good.

Track is rated fast.
Hoping CT gets a good trip & runs well.
