Child in my pasture- WWYD?

I’m not making excuses for the kid… if she were mine chances are trespassing and chasing horses around with a stick never would have crossed her mind… had it she would know there were consequences for that kind of misbehavior and she would have difficulty sitting on her bottom for a few days.

She still needs discipline or some kind of social intervention.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! That is all I am trying to say. sheesh. I’m not saying it is the OP’s responsibility for that either… Calling the cops/alerting Granny should is as far as it should go for the OP… the rest is up to the kids family to deal with.

To be frank I’ve never even noticed you before this posting. As in NEVER. So please don’t get paranoid if I’ve been responding to anything you’ve said previously.

Well, that just means you are sloppy with your rudeness and sarcasm.

good idea

I think at this point I would make a bunch of reward flyers and post them everywhere- go to all your neighboring homes in the area and talk to them- the flyer should read along the lines of reward- offering reward of $XXX for information leading to the identity of preteen person repeatedly seen trespassing into my pastures and harrassing my livestock. Also seeking any information regarding the vandalism and removal of a fence on the same pasture. Police involvement will become necessary if the person or persons involved do not stop or are not identified… maybe this will scare the crap out of her enough to realize you are serious.
snitching always works! good idea. put in poster reward of X (put amt) for the identity of the child/person (chasing horses/tearing down fence, etc).
but the wildlife camera will get the positive irrefutable results.
Hey how come people are taking up for a child who isn’t even theirs? and whom they don’t know, so how can they say she is basically good and smart, etc. she could be just mean and nasty and of average intelligence. You should be taking up for her grandparents who have had the kid dumped on them. My parents never took up for me. If you know this kid, then you all go work your psychology on her, otherwise, give the op ideas to keep the kid away from her horses and her fence.

The OP has already discovered the identity of the child, and the child is scheduled to come over and repair her fence.

It is a much better bet that an English horsewoman is an anti social individual, than it is that a little girl is a sociopath.

Bless your heart. I’m not going to touch on the apparent cultural bias here, but no one is calling the kid a sociopath. People are saying that she is behaving in a manner that is inappropriate, regardless of complicating factors, and that said behavior needs to stop.

Kookicat, good luck with this whole situation. I can tell you that I was not an easy child, and the words “highly sensitive,” “troubled,” and “gifted” were as equally applied to me as “rotten little brat.” My mother would have drawn and quartered me if I had EVER behaved in such a manner as this child. Obviously this child has no such parenting in her corner, but that doesn’t mean that her behavior should be accepted. She needs to learn boundaries sooner or later and if that means that you have to get the police involved than so be it.

And I first moved to the country so I wouldn’t have to deal with neighbors. If I wanted to have tea and crumpets with the neighbors, I would live in the burbs.

If you read back you will be amazed at the horrible things people have said about the little girl, and the names they have called her. Start in the begining.

I did, actually, start in the beginning. The criticisms that I saw were that the kid is behaving in an inappropriate manner and it needs to stop. Period, end stop.

Three words- Volunteer Fire Department??

Names to call this kid:

“Hey you”

“Get out of my freaking pasture you spawn of satan”

“AAAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHH” (as you are running towards kid with a Majikal Stick.)

“Smurf” - after you have contacted her blue alien parents.

“Kid” - no, not as in child, but as in stinky goat babies. Oh, wait. Goat kids are cute. Nevermind that one then.

Oh - how profound!

Me? Or the next one up?

Oh - how profound!

Again with Facinated’s “poooorrrr wiiiittttlllleeee ggiiirrrlll” speal. No one called this brat anything she didn’t disearve or that wasn’t true. And what do you care? She didn’t hear or read any of it, she didn’t know of it, and it didn’t do any damage to her.

And “little girl” is a misnomer - she is around 12 years old. She’s almost a teenager and old enough to know better or to be taught -very quckly - about respect for other’s property and animals.

I’m still shocked and amazed that you continue to defend someone that you a) don’t know, b) won’t ever have contact with, c) has done things that would get adults arrested immediately, d) has no empathy as she let her grandmother suffer worrying about her dogs, and e) OBVIOUSLY premeditated everything she did, as she LIED to her gran about walking the dogs and instead went to cause trouble.

I really hope you never reproduce. Your spawn will apparently get away with anything and everything they do. God forbid you abuse them by disciplining them, right??

I’m still in shock that Facinated is a man. Wayyy too [edit] empathetic to be a man:D

Thats closely followed by the shock of needing 12 pages to agree that the kid is a spoiled little monster who should have to work for a week to make up for her behavior. If nothing else just so you can keep your eye on the sociopathic littel brat:D

There is simply no excuse for the child’s behavior and the childs’ reltives are well aware of her trouble making. Gran feels bad about what the kid did, but total strangers wayyy across the globe defend her?

Lawsuit, lawsuit, lawsuit.

The papers are full, everyday, of kids with parents who do not supervise them but are incredibly quick to sue when the kid manages to get hurt.
I have decided there is a whole subculture out there who use their children as bait to make sure that they are well off in their old age.
I’m only half kidding.

Seriously, I saw an article not too long ago about a poll that indicated that 85% of people feel that there will be something that happens in their lifetime that would justify a big enough lawsuit to make them wealthy. Accurate? I hope not, but it still boggles the mind.

20 years ago I would have said to stick a manure picker in her hands and put her to work and see if she was interested in learning about the horses, unfortunately today my response is call the police, call the sheriff, call her parents, call the newspapers. Do ANYTHING to ensure that she cannot get runover or kicked or bitten while on your property.

It’s a sad state of affairs, protect yourself.

:yes::yes::yes::yes:

bad girl

now you know that my bitch Las Rocosa Scheherazade takes offense at the term bitchy, cause girl dogs are smarter than boy dogs. And Schehera would have taken this incident into her own teeth, old and feeble as she is, and run that kid out of that pasture.

Three words- Volunteer Fire Department??
Are you somehow implying that the members of my hardworking fire department would watch me, my pets, my house burn to the ground because I didn’t know their names???

I sure hope the people in your neighborhood don’t have to count on you.

Ahhh. “Release the Hounds” would have worked well, but I am not sure if OP had any killer dogs:D

I once had a kid problem with my dogs. I ended up befriending the unsupervised children instead of running them over with my car, but it took years to get rid of them that way! I had to move to the country where the neighbors kids are far away and their parents control them. I don’t know them, I don’t want to know them and babysittiers get paid $$$$.

I hope OP does tka eon spoiled child and shows her what work and discipline are. I am sure even a non-withcy horsewoman can control an evil little child and perhaps influence her for the better. .a nd the kid still leaves to go home in a month.
It is delusional fantasy to imagine that the “South” and “UK” losses have anything to do with this piece of trash harassing the OP.

I am all for SSS at this point. What a nasty baggage for doing that to your fences.

What does the local PD say about your rights? Can you detain her and then call the cops? Sounds like a delinquent.
There was this, and of course Equine Law’s charming contribution.
