I’m right there with you avezan!! Someone asked me something about what happened when one day last week (one of those, remember in court the other day?? questions)… I swear I couldn’t tell you what day was which the past two weeks… At the rate they are going, I’ll be on foal watch with CORY (who is “due” June 4) by the time they foal LOL. Poor Dovey I think that she has deceided that if she doesn’t move at all the “thing” inside her that hurts won’t move anymore. She is so confused.
Oh no! My plan didn’t work. :-\ Cam is down… Baby’s swimming out into the world behind the static?
Mares are outside so cams are down. I’m going to try and come home a little early again today to get a little sleep. There is absolutly NO change with Chloe - she is exactly the same as she was last night minus the sweat. Dove though has HUGE globs of wax this am!!! Dare I hope???
Morning Acottingim. I’m still foal-less too. At the rate they are going your two and my two will probably all foal at once.
I still have no wax, but am not any based on their histories. I broke down and bought testing strips yesterday afternoon. One showed slightly elevated Ca but normal pH. The other was normal on both. (I really only did the second mare, for a baseline/comparison). I retested the one who should foal first, this morning. Her Ca had elevated a bit, and her pH had dropped. I think I will test her again this evening.
I’ve never tested milk before, but from what I’ve read, the Ca going up is considered the first alert, but not always reliable. The pH dropping is considered much more reliable, and once it drops below 7 you should be “in business”. I’ve heard some people swear by this testing, and say it’s very reliable. Others say “hooey”. I figure my entire life is on hold til these babies come out, so have little to lose by testing to see if there is anything to it.
We have storms predicted for this afternoon-- scattered but strong with possible hail, tornados. I know this is supposed to affect mares. However mine usually just look very content to be in their large stalls with bermuda and alfalfa in front of them, clean bedding, clean water, and a radio to listen to. I suspect they are so spoiled that some of the natural nervousness regarding weather has been spoiled right out of them.
Dear sweet Lord I cannot believe these mares have still not foaled. Annissa, all joking aside, do you think there could be a problem with Chloe? An infection or something? I would imagine it would have made itself known before now though. How far past her due date has she gone?
Wow… thought for sure one would have foaled by now! Good luck with your nap today acottongim… I will be firmly glued to the screen this evening
Per my question from yesterday, here are the due dates:
“As for Chloe: she is as of today at 344 days (or is it 345?), she has had one foal prior and other than the owner telling me she “was a good mom and had her baby on her due date” no other info was given - and I don’t know if due date was at 335 or 342.”
Chloe isn’t really late at all.
I really thought Chloe was going to go last night. The foal was making big movements (they looked like contractions to me), and she was shifting her weight side-to-side on her hind end. She is acting different then the other nights, where she was just plain old pissy.
Looks like another night of CSFW!
Sheeesh!! I checked in last night after my ride and no babies, every time the dogs woke me up last night I checked…no babies. I check this morning and the princess’ are outside which would mean no miracles between 5 and 830.
I am now on my way to the tack store and then to ride again. Betcha there are no babies when I get in:lol::lol: I’m beginning to go along with the theory that neither mare is preggers…just fat(but beautiful). Just joking(CCR ducks away from the computer) Good luck today!
I am really exhausted this morning from staying up so late so I prob won’t CFWT. I may be going to bed early… Like at 7 tonight,
Well I have been enjoying getting to see Letterman, Leno, Jimmy Kimmel late night TV every night for a week now!!
The mini baby is cantering and bucking around his stall!
that mare was at about 360 days, so they do eventually foal! They just like to torture us…
I stayed with those mares til after 3am this morning–no more. Their probably going to have those foals out in the pasture while Anissa is sipping coffee at her kitchen table at a 10 minute break.
You know, y’all are keeping me sort of sane the last few days!!! it is nice to come on the boards at just about anytime of the day/night and see SOMEONE else is up late! (and watching my two fat mares) LOL.
OK, here is the nightly update for whatever it is worth (and the cams are up and running).
Both girls have VERY THICK, VERY WHITE, VERY STICKY milk. Dove had HUGE globs of wax this am and a small amount of wax this afternoon (after being outside all day). Everything else is exactly the same.
I gave both girls a strong lecture and begged them to 1) have their babies tonight, 2) space them about 30 mins apart (I told them to talk amongst themselves over who went first as I didn’t care) and 3) PLEASE go early - 7:30 and 8 would be GREAT. I told them that if they did all that I would take back everything I ever said about them and that I would give them extra treats!!
(think it worked???)

Yeah, or when I fall asleep for 10 mins or something equally ridiculous!!!
Ok I am at work tonight til late, but the shower trick hasn’t worked yet so I will have to think of something else.
I can’t beleive you still have two very pregnant mares. I was convinced that Chloe would go.
Now I am no longer convinced. I’m gonna say Saturday… (maybe that will work?)
i will take anything that works or might work at this point… lol sounds good to me!
Surely with the white, thick, sticky milk though it has to be soon right???
Chloe is starting into her gyrations again. Her bottom probabky hurts from the pressure of the foal. If she would just lay down for a while that would take some of that pressure off. Poor thing; she looks like 3 huge links of sausage right now.
I’m holding out hope for Chloe tonight. The foal looks like it has shifted farther back today.
