I’ve lost both of their cams–I wonder if it’s the weather. I checked the radar and it’s the darkest color red right over her zip code right now.
With our luck she’ll go while the cams are out!

I don’t have video stream either. Bet it’s the weather. I think she has wireless? Someone squawk when it comes back please.
They’re baaaaack.
So much for getting stuff done this afternoon.
OMG the weather!!! Wouldn’t have mattered if it was wireless or wired… we lost power at the house (so my computer was out). Came back on pretty quick, but because we got BUCKETS of rain and it was popping lightening/thunder I couldn’t get from barn to house… LOL. Need to play with Chloe’s cam again, but need to get caught up on some stuff on line real quick.
The whole time the storm was going on, Dove was walking circles and licking… I think if dad and I hadn’t been down there (esp dad - bless his heart he loves to pet them so much and she loves to be petted so much so he kept petting her LOL) she might have laid down and gone on and had the baby. Kind of glad she didn’t though as I didn’t have a phone with me - and besides it was so loud (metal roof) We wouldn’t have been able to hear anyway.
Both mares have been pushing on walls etc off and on. Dove did last night (but she is so calm I don’t think that she is going to get “obvious” about anything.). and Chloe has been off and on for a couple of days - it hasn’t been anything violent though. My mare Cory didn’t do it very much eihter - just a few times pushing on the wall here and there.
Can’t call him/her Happy Hour - there is a stallion already by that name and Dove’s baby has to start with a D (and we would really like to incorporate my grandmother’s name - she passed away on Christmas am and loved horses, her name was Dorothy and her nickname was Dot or Dottie).
Anissa, Tess tested 6.2 on Friday morning around 10 am. She went into labor at 12:30 am the next day… so 14 hours later with the same results you got.
The best “warning” signs that I observed… between 10 pm when I tucked her in for the night and picked the stall…and midnight, she did 3 wet sounding poops. 3 in 2 hours is more than normal and the last one was VERY wet sounding, at midnight.
Have I mentioned how much I dislike foaling out maidens??? LOL

Too bad Maybe something inspiring will come to me while wrting this research paper. I am so proud of myself for figuring out how to make your mares/this thread take up an entire screen AND have my research paper in full view on another. WHo knows what I am capable of next!
(Possibly losing my mind)
I really can’t believe Dove didn’t go last night! I’ll be keeping an eye on them today/tonight. I remember last year there was a way to set it on marestare that if a mare was going you people could click on a warning sound and then if you had the window up on your screen it would make a galloping sound. Is there anyway to do that still? that way I can get work done without checking the cams once every five minutes!
Edited to add - I’ve lost both cams.
gf- they’re back now. possibly another power outage?
Dedicated to Dorothy?
Dance for Dorothy? (By Tanzeln, right?)
Back from bonfire. I sure hope Dove foals today and you get a good night’s sleep before Chloe foals tomorrow night.
Yep, and this may be something on goign today… although I hope not! Sometimes the coop takes a while to get the elect back on (sometimes they are quick)… so if the cams go for a while, I’ll be down in the barn sitting with mares… sigh.
If Dove goes today during the storms, Dorothy would be a perfect tie-in a la Wizard of Oz.
From a baby name site–the variants of Dorothy:
Dasha, Dasya, Dodie, Dody, Doe, Doll, Dolley, Dolli, Dollie, Dolly, Doortje, Dora, Doretta, Dori, Dorika, Dorinda, Dorit, Dorita, Doritha, Dorlisa, Doro, Doronit, Dorota, Dorotea, Dorotha, Dorothea, Dorothee, Dortha, Dorothée, Dorrit, Dorthea, Dorthy, Dory, Dosha, Dosya, Dot, Dottey, Dottie, Dotty,
Hi All, I’ve been lurking your thread, but feeling your pain, I have a maiden mare due next week!! And I’m so afraid I’ll be in the same boat, that said I’m a maiden too! Well a horsey maiden I have 2 human boys but never a horsey mommy to be, until now, well next week or the week after or after or After???
Apparently your mares forgot to read the book that says when the milk comes in the baby is to come out within 48 hours. At this rate you are going to have to name the foals medium rare and well done!
What about just Dedication and call her Dot or Dottie as a barn name? Dedication could have both special meaning for you all and make a neat name applicable to the riding process, too.
Did anybody else sit and make lists of future horse names during class in school?
How about “Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers”
Wow, I really really like both Dedication and Dance for Dorothy (that brings tears to my eyes actually). I didn’t loose power a little bit ago, but did loose internet service temporarily… between the two things it is going to be a long day! LOL
I’m going to go lay down for a while… if the power goes out it will wake me up so don’t worry about that (it may take a while sometimes to come back on, but I’ll go out to the barn). BUT if one of the girls lies down or does something wild, will someone call the 579 number and wake me up??? TIA!!! (i’m just going to lie down for a couple of hours)
I am not even believing this. I got back from the pace a bit ago thinking for sure there would be a baby by now. Nope. Biz as usual on the cam. Unfortunately I can’t leave it up, we are having a wicked storm with lightning, and since we got hit last year I don’t want to risk losing another computer.
But I’ll check back in later
