Craigslist Horse? [UPDATE - Welcome to the Family, Kalcifer! #98]

Heres my CL find of the decade. Amazing pony!! Jumps the moon, huge stride, fancy mover, easy, can do any job. LOVE this pony and he’s worth about 30x what I paid. This was his first real show, jumped around like a star, kids first foray into the jumpers.

I never heard from the owner and didn’t have any way of contacting them besides email. I hope the guy was picked up by someone else or something.

At least you tried.

Is the ad still up?

Go see him!

Talking about Craiglist horses , I wonder if the purple halter that came with a pony ever found a home. That ad was hysterical and sounded like a fun pony!

It’s still up, but what last updated over 2 weeks ago. So who knows what happened to the poor guy/gal.

I also don’t want to just show up at their place… this isn’t exactly the nicest part of Houston.

Hummm…

What about this guy, y’all? http://houston.craigslist.org/grd/4504081098.html

He looks to be in good flesh. Big ole guy, too. I have a soft spot for the big guys (LOL @ 17.5 hands though). My heart horse is a big ole 18 hander. Wonder what his story is.

UPDATE: She sent me a few more pictures of the guy [along with his appaloosa companion].

I like this one!!!

Thorough Bread Gildings are the best!

If I were in Texas, I’d go pick him up

Pictures are awful but his legs look clean from what I can see. How old is he? His mane is awful long so he’s probably been sitting for a few years. I’d offer 500 and not offer more.

She is going to send me his tattoo # on Friday. She said she’s pretty awful at technology so her sending pictures and video will be difficult for her. I may just say screw it and go see him. Just want some opinions beforehand if I’m being totally ridiculous or not haha. Something about this one makes me go “huh… he has the same back as my guy, so my saddle would fit him.” HAHA.

Especially the majikal 17.5 hand ones

I asked her why he hasn’t been ridden; is he lame? She goes “No he’s not lame. He has a beautiful gate.”

She is in the real… country, country, country part of Houston. So I have to dismiss some of her oddities due to that.

So who knows why he’s been sitting. Probably just because she wanted some pretty looking horses in her yard. Who knows.

So how do I go about this? Do I get there and just lunge him around? Poor guy probably doesn’t even know how to lunge, so do I just chase him around and see his w/t/c to see if there are any lameness issues? No lameness, do I sit on him? Where the hell am I going to sit on this horse? In her front yard? What a silly situation. HAHA.

That’s what I looked at. His legs look clean from what I saw. Nothing about his conformation really strikes me as red-flag. He just looks underweight and without any decent muscle. The pictures are awful, you’re right. Thank you for the input on the offer you’d give. I most likely would offer that too.

I would lunge him or chase him around to see if you have any lameness. Maybe owner would let you try him at your place? Although this could complicate things and certainly change the horse’s behavior if he hasn’t been off the property in a few years.

She’s going to have to let me take him off the property for me to consider because A - I am going to vet check him and B - I am going to like either sit on him or put him through a jump chute. Would also be nice to see how he does when he’s not in his bubble.

I’ll take the Appy!

I saw him a few days ago (on FB i think) and loovee him. Go see him, post pics, videos whatever you get, just cause he’s so handsome!

Not to worry, someone in my area is selling a “sattle” on CL.
