Cross Country

Per FEI rulebook Art. 546.2 & 537.2 modifications can be made in exceptional circumstances to distances and speeds. They specifically list heavy rain. They did make the modification of removing 2 fences but that doesn’t seem to have been enough.
16 completions to 11 el/ret? This is eventing not endurance! Eventers are already getting enough flack from PETA and humane societies. They’ll look at this event and use it against us.

Edit: and I don’t think it’s so much that the US needs better horses as it is they need better preparation. Our courses in the states don’t quite stack up with those in Europe.
Meh I’m not arguing technicalities. They removed 2 fences and 500m of course due to the weather, which alters the distances and jumping efforts required. So far the retirements are mostly run-outs/eliminations/retire and a few rider falls, one horse fall I think out of the 40 who have run. If they allowed more time then you’d just have people gunning it because the time was achievable and even more falls.

The placings will all just work out off who has the least time penalties instead of those who have none going by dressage marks.

Phillip and Trading Aces climb over fence 24, Phillip stays on but Oscar doesn’t want to play anymore. #eventinglive
lol

Hasn’t trading aces had this issue before? Wasn’t he the one who lost gas halfway through Rolex one year and then got pulled up two fences from home the next year?
Both he and Reggie have had fitness issues at the 4* level in the past, but seemed to have them sorted out more recently. Both riders certainly know how to condition a horse. I wonder if they were following the same game plan to attack this course, with the same results.
Rides seem to be improving now, so maybe info’s getting back to the stable area on how best to tackle this course. Hoping for better results for our last three US riders. Love to see Canada do so well so far. This was Pavarotti’a first 4* XC, correct? Impressive!

Now they are reporting Tim Price was pulled up.

Love, love the French rider blowing kisses at the crowd after the Rolex water!

That was a shame for Lucy Jackson, a fall at the last water.

Kim one stop and 20 time, 14th place.

And she was looking so beautiful and effortless until that point. Looks like he was really flagging at the very end.

So - that Canadian team then might be in with a shot. Ahead of the now out Kiwis lol

Hopefully Canada qualifies for the OG’s here because the USA will be sending 4* combinations to a 2* Pan Ams next year. Only one qualifies from Pan Ams now.

Has Boyd gone yet?

What do they need to place as a team to qualify?

Top 6 I think.

Lynn two stops but home safe, into 30th place.

I thought I read somewhere that by eliminating those two fences, they also removed a hill from the course. So that would also lessen the effort for the horses.
do we know who’s designing for pan am and 2016 olympics?
Michelet is doing Rio.

Im bummed Sinead wasn’t put on the team.

She did so much better than some others.
What’s up with this???

I will say that this is embarassing for the US.

they just sad top 5 teams qualify for OG

Would you really have used her before Buck and Philip Dutton?
