Irish, the sound comes and goes, but there is no announcer. OK, I got to watch the whole class, and I picked the dog "pulled out’ second, but was photoed as Grand champion select, as was the other dog I picked, handler in pink. What does that mean? Who won the class? I assume the last one with no real feathers was a puppy? I am pleased with myself, that out of 22 dogs shown I picked 2 that were there at the end.

Best of breed is the winner
Best of Opposite is the best dog of the opp sex as the winner.
Select Dog is the next best male
Select Bitch is the next best female
awards of merit are also given if the entry is large enough.

what class was that? Just sort of cruising around, I happened upon the Great Pyrenees and it LOOKED to me like that class was won by a pup!

Don’t forget the Opens

if there are class dogs (non champions) there may be a Winners Dog or Winners Bitch or both. If both there will ba a Best of Winners -best non champion dog or bitch - pulled out in the end. They might be from a class other than Open.

So if you saw a puppy (hairless) dog get.pulled out 2nd it was probably Best of Winners

I saw a springer by itself, without what I would call full feathers get a prize and it came back the end and the GPyr looked like only 3 dogs and one was clearly not fully grown, Coat was fuzzy. LOOKED like it was the winner but with no announcer, and I was ‘grazing’ thru the classes so I could be way off. Just because I love watching this thing every year, doesn’t mean I know what I am watching!

My dogs breeder won with the littermate to dog’s dam. So excited for him! Of course inwas in a meeting and missed it. Can’t wait toward the video!

Wow! On the Fox Sports preshow, they just announced that there is some ownership conflict for the Schipperke that won the group last night, so that dog is ineligible for Best in Show. So he will come in the BIS ring, and be excused, and the other six dogs will compete for BIS. The dog still keeps the breed, and group wins, but can’t go for Best in Show

That is totally confusing to me, and I hope I got everything right.

The ruling about Colton not only makes no sense, it sucks. And the two people interviewed didn’t explain it, of course.

My friends are talking about it on FB but no one has said what the story is. Generally it would be that the judge owns a dog by the same breeder, or something like that.

ETA: it’s not terribly uncommon.

ETA: update - the judge has a distant working relationship with one of the dogs owners. So they decided to pull their entry. They will get to do a lap of honor and then leave the ring.
