This is my first time posting. My friend pointed this out to me.
I am ‘leasing’ my friends DWB to breed. We’ve been trying to breed to Redwine for the past two years. First year, super excited, mare was good to go. Later after trying 4 times, found out she had a utero infection and had her caslicked. Not sure why she got one but we brushed it off and tried for the next year. This year we tried 3 times with no luck. Even the vet was baffled after doing a biopsy, ultrasounds and cultures. The mare was perfectly normal and healthy but she never took.
Thousands of dollars later, I am left with nothing. I am not made out of money. I’ve been saving up for a while for an opportunity like this. After years of buying unwanted/untrained horses and turning them around I thought this was my ticket for a fancy AO hunter I’ve been dreaming of. I don’t know what I feel now. It has not sunk in yet that someone has taken my $ and has disappeared.
I’m ashamed. I can’t believe I have been taken for a fool. I am so ashamed I haven’t told any of my friends or family…I feel so numb right now, not sure what to do or where to turn.
I just wanted to share my story. That’s it, thanks for reading.
I am very sorry about what happened to you, and you do NOT need to be ashamed. There are a very few trolls on here, and you will need to ignore them and just realize we all know who and what they are.
PLEASE take full sized high resolution photos of the semen “lab” and the dead birds in the bathtub to your vet – make sure your vet knows that those dead birds were within 20’ of the lab, and let your vet know what is going on.
You DO need to PM Equinedriver asap, and she will collect your info to add to the list of victims that will be presented to the prosecutor & FBI. You are not alone, and there were people far more experienced and knowledgeable than you who got scammed; and it wasn’t their fault either.
Here’s a little info on scams and cons -
“Shame, guilt, and fear
Once a con artist has completed his scam, he will yank the rug out from under you.* Suddenly, without warning, you have to come to terms with the fact that you have been taken to the cleaners.**
—The effect is devastating - it was planned to be —
From the very start of a scam you are kept just slightly off balance so that you feel you must cling to the con artist for support.* During the entire manipulation, you are being emotionally positioned so that when the con artist disappears, you will feel as if you have pushed off a merry-go-round.* In effect, you were.
You are suddenly left without the rudder in whom you believed with all your heart.* To admit you were wrong can be emotionally shattering.* You are left reeling and alone with that voice inside your head yelling, “What have I done?!”
Dignity and self-esteem are gone, replaced with shame, guilt, embarrassment, and anger (usually self-directed).* You think I’m going overboard with this description?* Not really.* Not only have I been there, but I get letters from victims every day and that’s exactly how they all feel.”
