Doing business with JILL BURNELL? BEWARE.
Would a reputable vet get involved in this trainwreck in any way? After seeing the lab pictures, in my mind – GFF SEMEN = BIOHAZARD / HAZMAT.
Well the frozen semen sits in its straw until it is thawed. So not issue for anyone storing it, no matter EVA postive or not. it doesn’t move when it is frozen…

And with all the knowledge that Redwine frozen maybe EVA positive one can take precautions for the mare as suggested by knowledgable parties (Dr. Timothy etc.) and just your mare.

Good point! Rose covered glasses off!

Unfortunately, that’s not quite correct. Because the Redwine semen “is” EVA positive, it must be stored separately from semen that is not EVA positive in order to prevent any possible cross contamination.

It won’t help to slam them as they struggle to adjust to the fact that Jill’s dirty business practices have taken some sheen off of their investments, and watered down their joy along the way.

Yes, thanks for the excellent post. I apologize if the new person posting about being skeptical about the negative things posted here are really true is not a troll or alter, but I have to admit, I just assume that anyone with two posts to their credit, given Jill’s history of trolls and alters as I noted before, makes me question the source. I am sorry if that offends some.
Since you are consolidating all the data, I imagine it’s even more difficult to remain objective.

You’re doing a great service for many folks … many thanks for taking on this unsavory task!

Really? Wow. More reasons to get my mares vaccinated; the contamination possibilities, while slim, are endless!

o.k. To understand that, could you explain, why this is the case with frozen ? I can understand that one really has to take care when it is handled and again in a status where it is liquid. Bit in case the straw sits in the container and “just” sits there in its straws ? But maybe take that to the EVA thread, ther it is much more informative and helpful to others to learn than here - thank you for all your patience and explications. I am alwys learning a lot from your posts !

i know Equinedriver is working hard, but it might be a good idea to have a backup person, who also has the data etc just as a precaution… Perhaps there already is such a system in place?

Hasn’t this gone on long enough? time to close this puppy down.

Why? The longer it stays open, the more chances folks have to see it.

To close this thread is to condone the fraud and allow it to continue. I have to question the motivation behind that suggestion. With little exception, this thread has remained remarkably civil and on topic considering the number of individuals who were wronged and are justifiably upset about that fact.

I believe the SIL posted she was going to take more pictures and post, have we heard back from her? She started this and now is MIA, any news on her or from her?

Who cares about more pictures? I have said before, if her property were cleaner than an operating room there is more than enough reasons not to do business with her so the opposite holds true as well. Dirty doesn’t matter. Criminal, fraudulent behavior does.

From the harrassment she and her family have been getting from Jill since this thread was started…which is understandable ;)…she has decided to let the rest of us take over and provide a warning to the equine world…which has been done.

Cold does not destroy the virus. Indeed, most viruses are stored in liquid nitrogen. And, think about it…the cold doesn’t kill the sperm cells ;). When packing the straws, there is no way of insuring that none of the liquid gets on to the outside of the straws and with viruses, it takes a very small amount to cross contaminate.

Is it likely to cross contaminate? Probably not. Is it worth the risk? Probably not. But, it is just one more attention to detail that should be considered when dealing with EVA positive semen.

I don’t know why anyone would want to close this thread down. It stays on the top of the breeding forum everytime I come on COTH. And I see brand new posters on here almost every time, just coming here finding out about the situation. To close it would only allow for the fraud and lies to continue. It is a very helpful thread to everyone involved, and to people not involved. It saves potential future clients from being ripped off. So please don’t close this thread. Silly idea.

Whistleblowers have a very difficult time in life. It’s an unfortunate consequence of doing the right thing. I wish the best to the SIL and equinedriver, because they have taken the chance to help others.

I was told yesterday that she has moved the horses except for 2 stallions. All the fencing and barn except the perimeter fencing got torn down.

Thanks for the update! And as for closing this puppy down… I thought it was Jill’s business practices that have gone on for too long and needed to be shut down! This thread should stay at the top of this forum as a warning to all others for as long as Jill Burnell is in business.

SBS has very elaborate and stringent protocols in place for not just freezing, but storing EVA positive frozen semen.

EVA frozen is kept in completely separate tanks, and I think those tanks are no where near the other tanks. Cuts down on the human error component when sorting and shipping doses.

THIS.
