"DOUBLE JEOPARDY!" - Old Horse Show Trivia

For correct rider, horse and year.

But a good guess by Alex! May I present you with a lovely can of Turtle Wax? Or perhaps some kitchen cleaning products?

Really, I had no idea this one would be so hard.

Right about Tina. George Morris was in St.Louis giving a clinic at B&B Farms, Martha Baskowitz. As he said,“he stole those horses”

Answer on the Maclay question???
Who WAS the first???

Yellowdog, no I’m afraid you are confused about the gender of the Washington Halloween streaker…Yeller LOL…I’m on the floor!

Shorty, however is correct about the other details. A hint-he (gender reference for benefit of Yeller) had a horse in the class that night and that horse has been mentioned several times recently on this thread.

Rexford, good one. And the other horse? Not Taggart.

Still thinking, Alex. Must go back and read clue number one. Later.

Steve Stephens was who I was going for for Grey Chief. I don’t remember RJ riding him, but as we know, my memory isn’t!

Laurie

Does anyone not recall the year they moved Lake Placid up the road (to the ski jump area?) in 85?? And it was all because of the Wally Byam convention that was booked at the horse show grounds… I do believe Wally Byam was the inventor of those silly looking airstreams!!!

If I have to explain, you wouldn’t understand…

Where are all our contestants today?

Don’t tell me I’m going to have to figure out how to spell this horse’s name so I can post the answer!

SEE YOU LATER

Don’t think anyone ever answered this one…

  1. Bay gelding (horse) shown by top pony breeder, her daughter, and Maryann Steiert in the 70’s.[/QUOTE]

Doogle Doogle - Mrs. Clay Camp

Name three working horses shown to numerous top wins by Patty Heuckeroth in the mid-70’s.

Owned by Mrs. DuPont - Lana DuPont (now Wright - first woman to compete in 3Day Olympics)'s mother.

Ridden by Mike Plumb. Not in a division - only jumped around 3 foot as a demo… (Even we little PC’ers could see that was about the great horse’s limit!) (oh, it might have been 3’6")

You know, I do not remember what year - but I think closer to 65 than 67 - but ??

I am sure the Colonel is older than Hawkins or Hanks!

And remember…
you have only 45 seconds to get to the first fence. So hurry up.

He didn’t win “everything”, but he won his share. He was just a very consistent, quiet, easy guy. He showed in the amateurs as well. Actually, I think he did the juniors, equitation, regulars and amateurs during his career. You don’t see that much anymore!

LP, not BJ. The time frame was such that C and J were no longer riding there.

laurieB
thanks for the great story! I love small little resourceful ponies. mine was always too fat to be exceptionally resourceful, but she made do!

dumb as a box of rocks, but w/ REALLY nice horses…

and btw Mr. Balch, my GPA was not made after 11/7/01. What’ya gunna do about it?

Emmett, I know YOU know the answer to the other Rodney question (above) - the bay a/o horse - right?! LOL

Shorty, would that be Midge? Although I don’t remember her riding. And possibly doesn’t qualify under the “VERY old” hint.

Way to old to be Strapper. If that was Timmy’s corgi, he was a great dog. Timmy had him when he first arrived at Nimrod. The pictures look like they were taken at Ox Ridge.
COMING THROUGH THE HAZE, TIMMY’S CORGI WAS RENNIE!

All about D. Jerry Baker…
Who did JERRY work for ? Where ?
Who rode for Jerry ?
Who groomed for Jerry ?
Which Gran Prix Events did he create ?
What Gran prix horses did he train ?

I still have Buccy’s and Pueblo’s from '78 and from the '79 World Cup, with all of my pins on them. I get teary eyed everytime I get them out.

Speaking of the World Cup, who DID win the first one, who was the highest placed American and what place was it?

Laurie

Are so close you’re going to kick yourselves!

Do I hear a collective “uncle?”

At least this hasn’t been DULL.

Barney lived on the corner of Guard Hill and Rte. 22 at Shannon Stables-it was never on McLain Street.

Buddy was in South Salem, NY and Norman had the farm after him…on Spring Street?
