"DOUBLE JEOPARDY!" - Old Horse Show Trivia

That’s not the right answer to my Maclay question. (See previous page.)

RUXTON:

Where did the name come from?

[I have no idea – I am just curious if anyone here knows what or who or where a Ruxton is.]

Linky- Tim Grubb

Okay Shorty, was it Josiah Bougher, Jr.?

In the discussion at the recent VHSA judges clinic it was mentioned the Kenny Wheeler had Ruxton, Who bred Ruxton? Who was the first rider? First trainer? Who sold him to the Wheelers? Who rode him at Wheelers? Who bought him from Wheelers and eventually retired him?

Of course you are correct on two counts. I’m going to wait a while to divulge the rest.

The Colonel just had his 83rd birthday. Yes he does still judge.
Doctor Rost is WAY younger!!! Hank is closer to The Colonel’s age than Doc.
Shorty ain’t half their ages

There is a “breed” steward from the midwest (name escapes me, sorry), who is older, and active. Need caffeine…

Why is it this is the SECOND time I have provided a correct answer and you decline to recognize it?

Alex, YOU need to brush up on the trivia!!!LOL!!

I remember that picture Yellowdog. Didn’t they switch while hacking, just for kicks? Someone else was in it also. Possibly Norman? Leslie is on Jet, I think Corsair is in the picture as well…

  1. Winning bay large junior in the '70’s on the east coast in zone 3 and at indoors, ridden by one of the few male junior riders who recently made a comeback in the jumpers and was on the cover of Practical Horseman.

  2. To die for small palamino pony out of Pennsylvania, winner in the AHSA pony finals in the '70’s; shown by very successful catch rider now a pro in NC. Bonus points if you can name BOTH of the two small ponies out of that barn.

An easy trivia question: who showed Leave em Laughing in the jr division?

I’ll guess - Pam Carlsen?

but Second Balcony was with J & C after he was with Rodney. Frances never had him.

Anymore guesses?

Laurie

I barely remember Alexa Bell. I do remember she went out with John-boy for a while…

OOPS, picture of the 2 grays never made it. Somehow I tried to upload the origianl sized one, not the small one.

So – here goes: 2 gray horses, with kids on each. Name the horses, the kids and the girl in the right of the picture (who also rode a gray ammie horse). (Gray on the left is the same one that Randy was washing in prior picture…)

WHAT YEAR?!?!?! What rider???

(Sloopy NEVER looked groomed to me! (jus kidding) I would guess Ronnie Silcox).

YD, can you name the class and year of The Jones Boy’s comeback win?

Laurie

Okay, an easier one: bay mare shown successfully in the regulars in the late 70’s by “colorful” Southern Pines trainer who now has an antiques business.

The Blazer is on Rte. 22 in Purdys, NY (still there) off Exit 7 on Route 684 and has the best hamburgers.

No, what I am thinking of is called something like the Horse & Hound. It might might still be there and I was kind of asking a question to see if anyone knew.

But Shorty

McLain’s Viktor is spelled differently.

I guess I am waaay tooo picky.

Name at least 3 Casanova’s and their riders. All showing today in the GP’s.

YD - No cheating!

Are these trivia questions from the 20’s or 30’s, Alex?
