Emmet, I’m glad you finally put on your Thinking Cap and came up with “In My Cap”…
Who brought out Not Always ?
Who owned him ?
Name at least 3 of his riders…
Seems the further the working horses got away from the hunt field, the more “tricks” we came up
with to help them “tolerate” all those appointments.
We would tie the hound couplings, with yarn to prevent them from banging on the horse’s side. The wither pad was there but unseen. We had a limited number of sewn in bridles and of course none of them had the desired bit so…suffice it to say, lots of changing before the jog. LOL. It was actually quite comical, at times.
No one could ever find the stock tie, nor the stock pin.
We ended up carrying a trunk just for appointments.
Alex Trebek correctly answered the first part of the question I posed. Alas, no one has answered the second part!
Anyone remember the name of the large pony that Marianne Steirt rode in the early 70s. Hint: it was an odd name and it won at Washington.
Lord Helpus: Is the rider Maggie Moss?
ROTFLMAO, WCYD!
LP, we WERE wondering what happened to you!
Would the third one been Corsair? This has really got me thinking.
Oops - you’re right!
Another one for the hunter folk: name 3 riders that showed Perfect Stranger.
What a fabulous pair. Lyda had Pluco too. Remember??
Funny. I recall that barn at The Fairgrounds, the dusty road next to it, etc. It’s all coming back.
(well not all )
Lordy MHM, wasn’t that part of departure for FL? Just keep rewashing those clothes, cause there’s a blizzard that has just closed the roads. SO, no vet, no health, no coggins and the horse you have been waiting for is someplace in upstate NY. The driver is panicing with it, he doesn’t know how far he can get. Could you possibly meet him???
I remember Steve Stephens riding him. Can’t remember which Grand Prix it was though, maybe The Invitational or Lake Placid.
Pond retreiver present and accounted for. Morning yd!
Beat me to Nordic!
cool horse.
good question!
So does that mean you know it or not?
If not, I posted one a couple of pages back that crossed the line between clue and Freudian slip!
This win was very well documented in PH, which I’m sure I still have in my reference library annex (aka my mother’s attic).
Trainer: Think of the antithesis of PV.
Emmett-
You will know the horse and remember him well the minute I tell you…
I knew the Fran’s Image and Steve Hawkins part, just couldn’t remember what outdoor show it was at. It was "DOH! (slaps forehead) I knew that!
For that, I looked it up. At least I’m honest, and I know where to look!
I KNEW the KK answer to female rider on Brendan. My brain is telling me there is actually a published picture of her somewhere riding him…

Jim Day bought Sundancer and showed him for the Canadian team, from Johanna Wallace Whipple, through her trainer Gary Henley.
Jim Day named him Sundancer.
Jim Day now trains racehorses in Canada.
Does anyone know Sundancer’s breeding?
