are you all talking about the old field show grounds?

Maybe the late eighties (88/89) - Pretty cool to win the Nat’l Small and Nat’l Med Pony Hunter Championships on the same pony LOLOL!
Touch The Sun was a chestnut hunter (Jamie Mann and Lisa C.) - tail never braided. The “eq” horse was a leggy brown gelding (like most of Paul Valliere’s eq string).
WHADYASAY was ridden by Kim Rachuba (Williams)
Speaking of HTS grooms, I saw Poinsey at Emerson’s memorial service. Hadn’t seen him in MANY years…

Hunter ?..you’re getting warmer. Alex, this one should be right up your alley.

Hmm…you didn’t answer Yellow Dog, but I would’ve guessed Bunny French too - is that the right rider?
Hit the nail on the head!
Joe Vanorio was a wonderful gentleman who really did it all- everything from stunt riding in early cowboy movies to helping NDJ prepare for his World Cup Finals win on I Love You. And in between he would help anybody with any horse in any discipline.
Plus he taught my mother to ride!
Would that be The Irishman and Cindy Perrin?
Hilary someone from California had Godspeed before Deeridge… and both Louie and Katie did him in the jr jumpers… jr hunters… a/o jumpers, open speeds… He was very versatile!!
If I have to explain, you wouldn’t understand…
I have seen Lynn every year at the NHS… giving out her mom’s trophy with Tim Kees.
Trivia - what was mom’s name???
And what did she do at horse shows?
When Ms. Stark goes back to FCHC (haha), she can ask Mr. Kees info on Lynnie.
Was the Palamino pony Nilla Wafer?
Was Janice’s pony Ranchero, Blue Chip or C’est Moi’. Kind of guessing on those…
Is the ringmaster Honey Craven? I remember he did lots of the shows in the area back then.
By the way, the show in the picture was the Ravenhill Horse Show in April 1966. It was held at Ravenhill Academy (Convent of the Assumption) in Germantown/Philadelphia, PA
And the horse and rider just visible behind Terry–the roan with the wide blaze–is Wee Ken with Ricki Rothstein.
Came from what barn originally?
What was his registered name?
What was his first show name?
Who was his first owner on the “A” circuit?
Who was his last owner?
(just in case there are many PBW, I’m thinking of the junior hunter, chestnut, early 80s)
1)Bay gelding successful in the juniors in the '70’s in NY with Bill Cooney’s former partner.
- Bay gelding (horse) shown by top pony breeder, her daughter, and Maryann Steiert in the 70’s.
That was fast! How many times was she champion? I was thinking of someone else, but I forgot about SS.
Barn call- many years ago at WEF, I was working for a barn with about 25 horses there. At 7:45 AM on a Wednesday, we heard KK over the loudspeaker, “C, we need KJ to the ring for the model! Right away, please!” 2 minutes later, same call, but louder. Then, “We need KJ for the model, he’s our third horse, bring him on up!”
So I went around the corner to see what was up. There’s KJ, in his stall, braided, napping, still wrapped, the groom nowhere in sight. We pulled him out, yanked the wraps off, no poultice thank God, threw his bridle on, and I set off for the grand hunter ring.
One problem- the horse walks like a constipated turtle. Will not hurry. At. All. If I had known, I would have ridden him up, but I had no idea. So now it’s 8:07, KK is yelling over the PA, and I’m asking people the smack the horse’s butt as I go by them.
Finally I get to the home stretch, and as I DRAG this horse past the tower ring, KK says over the PA, “We should be underway in the regular model momentarily- it looks like our final entry is making his reluctant way up to the ring.” Thanks, Kenny!
Needless to say, when I got to the ring, the trainer started yelling at me for being tardy. I politely informed him that the horse’s groom was slightly AWOL, and if not for me the horse would still be in his stall fast asleep. This was as I was gasping for breath after rushing the whole way.
Years later, I can laugh, but at that moment, I wanted to jump in that alligator pond by the hunter ring.

Hey YD, I do have a color printer. Might even have to invest in some good paper for a friend’s visit. Wouldn’t want them to feel left out.
Is that a “trick” question?
Maybe I need to change my name!
CH is a “champion” designation (horse won blah blah number of points in A-rated classes).
WC is a world champion (me! me!)
RWC is reserve world champion
The name would be announced (always) as
CHAMPION YELLOWDOG
I love the sound of that
Sheesh…amateurs! Yes, Ms. Square, you have the right person, but that horse was not nearly as successful as the other two. If you’re having trouble remembering them, perhaps that’s a signal you should drink orange juice only this weekend?
He owned a restaurant in nyc - can’r remeber the name, but that was also the name of his farm
