Name 3 horses thst came out of The Pacific Northwest (other than Sun Dancer) and became nationally famous)

Name who owned and/or trained them in the Pacific Northwest before they went on the national fame.

For all of you walking encyclopedias of useless horse show trivia, this thread will give you a chance to show off your knowledge. Please make sure your answer is in the form of a question. Successful respondents with the correct answer(s) feel free to pose new questions.

  1. Hugely successful bay gelding out of Cismont Manor with numerous national titles and wins indoors in the regular working division in the '70’s - owner, from the midwest, was also successful in the a/o’s and attended Sweet Briar College.

  2. Ultra cute palamino with many wins in the '70’s in the a/o’s at the best A shows on the east coast, including Devon. Shown by a now R judge who still competes in the adults and a/o’s.

But this thread is fun. Thanks for thinking of it.

These pictures have literally made me teary eyed! Such a long time ago, such GREAT memories. I wouldn’t trade those years, those experiences for anything in the world!

the year was 80 because I was 2nd for the 2nd year in a row at the finals - guess who?

sorry Katie

Well done. Your cruise ticket can be obtained at the will call window, tent (check with David O) at WEF. Tickets valid for undisclosed time period.

See me at WEF? Are you “poking” with the other ladies?

Such trivia!!
My knowledge of South Salem (since y’all haven’t guessed the town) goes back long before MAD was born. My bar stomping was not in S.S., sorry.
The only thing I recall of S.S. was a general store “downtown,” and the cemetery on Rt.35 (is that the route that goes to Katonah?).
A bar? nope.

My trivia question was about the Maclay winner the first year they tried to limit the number of riders at the Garden. I already gave a hint (or two) on that one.

Anyone who wants to guess the identity of the great ground-tieing equitation horse is welcome to do so. We could have a BIG BATTLE of wits here.

…been doing some thinking here. War Dress was a chestnut, Army Wife was brown. Now if that’s who you’re thinking of…otherwise, quite possibly I’m going to kick myself when you finally divulge.
