“…What Grand Prix (now defunct) did McLain the horse win in Pennsylvania?..”
Valley Forge!
Remember?! 1984. Just before the Olympics. It was the same day as The Derby.
Wasn’t Springer from Barney Ward???

I have the '64 Program in front of me and I am going to use that to guess: is it:
Australis
Nanticoke
Uncle Max or
Jacks or Better?
But, if I am wrong, I will start a new question: who owned the above jumpers?
Ohhhh, looking through this 1964 National Horse Show program is great fun. For the AHSA Medal Finals, I don’t have the results marked (Damn) but I do know all the entries. So my next question is … Name them
I know I know… just saw it on the news… Good for him, and I bet he will keep showing up for work!!!
If I have to explain, you wouldn’t understand…
#2: Boren! (yes?)
Simba Run won a Grand Prix in KY in '99… he was 19… !!!
If I have to explain, you wouldn’t understand…
Market Rise?
Idle Dice was once a hunter found by Bernie Traurig. Rodney, than Buddy
If you can’t beat 'em, try harder. And God Bless America my home sweet home!
but one hugely successful bay gelding from Cismont Manor that went on to the A/O’s was RUXTON, but I don’t think that Ellen ever attended Sweet Briar and it would have been the late seventies, early eighties. Sorry that I did not phrase that in a question Alex. Get over it.
(MIchael Matz/USET horse) Honest Tom?
and a much ealier question re World Cup Classes - For the Moment and Lisa Jacquin?
LOL You’ll kick yourself when you think of who that person/horse is…!
Alex, do I see a white flag flapping in the breeze from across the mountains?
Nope. It wa not Timmy’s dog Rennie (although they were the same age, or close to it since they were both in florida that winter.)
This corgi was Randy’s dog…
And the horse is NOT Holy Smoke. Not even close… Holy Smoke was lighter when Angela got him from Pam Duffy. Pam sold him because he was ugly (true) and he farted over every jump (sadly also true). But what a NICE horse he was for Angela…
So – you experts out there – name of dog and horse are still up for grabs.
And it is threads like this that make me regret not having organized my HUGE box of old pictures many years ago. I know what is inthere, it is just finding it…
OK , here is a hint – horse ont he left is the same horse the the prior bath scene. So, name both horses and the kids on top.
For $500000000, Alex, name the girl in the right hand side of the picture (hint: she also rode a gray horse in the ammies that year with Nimrod)
Hayley Richards and Steve Heineke were a few other people that rode Glen Owen. Steve won the Maclay finals on him the year Timmy was “on vacation”.
Glen Owen only had one real problem, he would NOT jump a liverpool. That left him out of ever going to the uset finals…
That would be correct. The Europeans were so impressed with Katie and Jonesie, that the cheering at the end was definitely slanted towards her, much to Hugo’s chagrin! Gladstone (how ironic!) was a lovely horse…
Jonesie contracted a horrible disease, purpura, while in Sweden, and was out for a long time. However, he did make a comeback. He also won another big class. Can anyone tell me what class it was and when? Also, who was Jonesie’s groom who saw him through his illness?
Laurie
What reference library? That came from my (fuzzy) head. And I’m sure it’s wrong anyhow. Dull? Prison? Cat?
Was that right MHM???
<cruise looking less stupid>

quote:
Barney lived on the corner of Guard Hill and Rte. 22 at Shannon Stables-it was never on McLain Street

I never suggested Barney lived on McLain Street. But he had a horse named McLlain Street. Am I the only one that remembers it?
Lord Helpus lived on McLain Street (actually at the intersection of McLain and Guard Hill)
Springer! What a great mare she was. Dina Santangelo bought her from Barney Ward, and then I was lucky enough to take care of her for a few years.
is the name of a very toney area just outside of ? ? Baltimore?-All I remember was trying to find a bathroom off of I95 & driving through Ruxton .WOW. The light bulb went off when I saw the name, seeing as he was my fav when I was a junior!
Felton was ridden by Buddy Brown, won the Invitational among others.
Katie also rode The Roofer very successfully.
Springer was best known as Ian Millar’s speed horse and also did the GPs. I don’t know if he started her, but she did an awful lot of winning with him. She was with him on the '78 European tour.
Can anyone name her groom at that time?
Left to match: Bandit, Shotgun, Aspen and Bullwinkle.
