"DOUBLE JEOPARDY!" - Old Horse Show Trivia

Only that Lise Quintero used to own/show him. Sorry rexford, that was a crummy weekend.

Bavaria came after I left, but I think from Evergreen with Mike and Cathy Crooks.

Devon was at Sterling with Diane and Johnny Johnson and owned by Florence Flemming. He was ridden by different riders like Michael Patrick, and Meg Woodington. I keep thinking that Devon came from out of the state though.

The third horse, Double Talk, I do not know again after my time. Of course he could be a horse I do know but don’t know a new name to.

Don’t forget Olde English, a Washington bred TB. By Kaneohe Bay, owned by Woodbrook and sold to the East Coast as a USET horse.
Sue Butts rode him in the hunters out here.

Also “Gus” another Washington Bred TB by Hitter owned by Judi Greer and sold to the Busch family. I cannot recall his show name with them, but the Busch family put a full two page colour center spread on him about a year ago in COTH when he passed away.

Who was Advanced Ticket and Brooke Hodgson?

Phew. Thanks KG.
I knew somebody other than Michael had ridden Tom - just wasn’t sure who (old age kicking in)—

Abby—Would it be Calypso, Chase the Clouds, now I’m drawing a blank. Hmm let me think for the third one.

The Dice bros were both ridden by RJ. Double Dice was also ridden by Oswaldo Mendez.

As far as Balbuco goes, I believe he was “in house” in 1972 so that would have made Rodney his rider. Unless you are referring to the Argentinian rider he came from who name is *^%@#…

Another youngster could have been Southside.

What year was the show and Grand Prix in Atlantic City and who won the GP?

Hope you got lots of Bonz for Christmas, Yeller.

The connemera pony at the top of the line ended up being leased later on by one of my best childhood friends. I still can’t remember her name though. If it’s the same one, the problem was she ended up barely being a pony, or NOT being a pony! I can’t for the life of me remember her name, I do remember she was a wonderful jumper.
I also thought the judge looked like Artie.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?

Try typing with a JR on your lap. How can anyone stay focused?

The memories being posted are the BEST! Making us all yearn for them. Altho, I will bet many did not yearn while they were going on

Ok guys I have to let you know, I am proud of this stumper though LOL Conrad Holmfeld, used Gem Twist as his speed horse at the 1986 National

The Roofer, that would be Will Simpson

Ok I am in now. I have enjoyed lurking too long. Are the three greys Spiff n Polish, Silk n Satin and Nashville Brass?

And is Jane’s horse Mystic Emperor??

Abby guess who I was talking to on the phone today?LOL

Also my unemployment status has gotten me so nervous, I actually went to talk to Bruce at the club yesterday. The thought of being a 40 year old groom is scary for me but if it doesn’t bother Austin and could help me stay out of debt, I guess I could handle it.

Who are 3 ex-Grand Prix horses that showed in equitation finals (not Johnny’s Pocket, previously mentioned in thread)?

Didn’t Meredith Taylor ride an exgrand prix horse in finals… Keratin, I believe? I could be wrong.

What was Michelle Grubb’s horse Sundancer’s real registered name?

What was the name of the trainer who originally found him at the track?

Who sold him to Michelle Grubb?
And who do they work for now? As…?

I think I remember Helen showing MacGregor in the Large ponies and wasn’t the sister Margaret?

Em, yes All the Brass, wonderful hunter. I always think of Betty Oare’s lovely Navy Commander when I hear All the Brass…Don’t know why, just do.

hee hee had a crush on that texas kid!

You all think it’s Aaron, don’t ya?

Emmet - you have USED UP your lifelines!

I don’t have a clue,

but I think these pics need printed out and posted in the POD. YD what do you think.

And stupid me, left the pictures of L, the captain and Steve Stephens from the 80s, sitting on the kitchen table back home.

May need to have them shipped down.

Not a great jumper, but ridden by many people, it seems. Joanie showed him with the team many years ago. Last seen by me in MN as an A/O hunter with a friend of mine named Debbie Dickman.

Laurie

Corinthian Classes were hunter classes in which the rider had to be the member of a Recognized Hunt.
Appointments classes were open to any rider.
Both classes were judged on performance and appointments.

Riders who wore a pink coat, a dark blue or black coat which had hunting buttons and the hunts collar were required to carry a card ( in their pocket ) from the hunt stating they had earned the right to wear them.

Those classes were fun, racing around making sure you had EVERYTHING on the horse and rider !
