Wow.

That was an incredible read. I’ve only followed this thread here and there, so it was eye-opening to have the whole story laid out like that.

It’s still kind of amazing that he was appointed as the coach for the Canadian team in the middle of that whole kerfuffle.

whew that is next level spicy. I mean I don’t blame them but yeah. They were meticulous in “setting the record straight.”

Just… wow.

"We did not attempt to verify the truthfulness and accuracy of Mr. Lamaze’s claims prior to our publication of the PRESS RELEASE. We did not attempt to obtain comment or a response from Iron Horse, Ms. Frederiks or Mr. Aziz prior to the publication of the PRESS RELEASE. We were aware of and had reviewed the evidence and materials filed in the Action and the decisions of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in the Action prior to the publication of the PRESS RELEASE, but did not undertake any fact checking prior to publication.

We apologize to Iron Horse, Ms. Frederiks and Mr. Aziz for the publication of the false and misleading statements and innuendo in the PRESS RELEASE, which has been removed from our online publication."

The headline is totally whacked, but some news from Canada.

That is awesome. Good for them.

The Toronto Life article is written well and it certainly helped me to appreciate all the underhanded, deceptive tactics Lamaze used against his faithful clients. He duped them. Over and over. What a scumbag.

As for his physical health? The way he’s described, combined with his history of drinking and drug use, makes me think liver failure or HIV.

Well, we might not see much of Eric any more but I certainly look for this horse on the start list, Hickstead White. Is he not the spitting image of the Hickstead statue at Spruce Meadows? He is Hickstead x Coupe de Coeur.

Jorne Sprehe of Germany.

Thanks!

what a combo, I’ll definitely be watching out for them.

Her stirrups are interesting.

He’s claiming that the details of his medical treatment are secret … but only until 2027??

I don’t know specifics of the patient confidentiality laws in Europe, but in the US, the details of one’s medical treatment are confidential indefinitely … but that patient can choose to share whatever they like, or they can be subpoenaed for court cases when relevant.

Is he claiming it’s some sort of “trade secret” with these “experimental treatments,” that they can’t be talked about because the developers don’t want their secrets getting out for others to use and capitalize on? Because if that were true (spoiler — no way it is) that would be extremely unethical, when other patients could potentially benefit from said treatments but they’re keeping them secret just to be used on a select few. If someone had actually developed a working artificial kidney and used it in a human, the world would know.

If in fact he was part of a clinical trial, the results are confidential until the trial is unblinded though evaluation of the data. That means a sufficient number of people have been enrolled in the trial and gone through treatment and sufficient time has passed to make the data clinically relevant. The passage of time in usually endurance (survival) of patients against standard of care. That can take a long time. Until then the nature of the treatment product and data is confidential. This is how drugs get approved for general use in specific indications

His entire medical record and diagnoses wouldn’t be locked down just because he’s participating in some sort of clinical trial, though, would it? And at least in the US, clinical trials are registered so, for example, it would be publicly known if there was an ongoing trial of implanted artificial kidneys in humans, even if the details of how the device works (or doesn’t) are kept under wraps. He’s claiming he’s got access to therapies that nobody in the medical community seems to know are being performed even experimentally at this point, but he is saying he can’t show records of any of his diagnoses or imaging or unrelated treatments as a result. That seems … not true.
