Eventing at 2016 Olympics in Rio
Happened to Canada at the last Olympics. It was a friends horse too :frowning: So disappointing.
I can’t even imagine. :frowning:

Blah, I have to work until noon. Should I call in sick? :)
…I may be at work now… Don’t tell! LOL

Conference call at 9:30 though, SIGH.

Ok… sorry to ask but … is there 2 rounds of the jumping phase?

Sucks that the Ruy Fonseca fell :frowning: Loved that he fixed the fence after. We watched him at the Pan Am’s, he was brilliant. We were disappointed for him to have a bit more of a rough go at these Olympics.

Eventing tack question: same bridle for xcountry as for show jumping ?

What up with Phillip Dutton’s bridle? Some chain flapping about during show jumping. Surprising (to me) that the horse went clean with that distraction.

I’m guessing the curb strap came loose. Whoops!

Yes, but I was impressed with the way he fell. Great tuck and roll and he came up uninjured.

Allez les bleues!!

How many are they taking into the individual final?

Looks to me like 25 - all under 84 pts.

Pippa was at 84.3 and didn’t make it.

NBC Olympics just posted a 30 second clip of Ruy’s fall on Twitter with the caption “Tuesdays, ya know??”

I have to say, whoever is doing the social media updates for NBC is HILARIOUS.

On live stream they were wondering if anyone from the gymnastics team would make a note of how well that tumble was executed! They also mentioned what a good sport he was for putting the rail back up - something neither one of them had EVER seen in any competition, let alone the Olympics. Class act that Ruy!

I love Ruy. He’s having so much fun this week.

I think it’s hilarious

A few days from now, I’m sure he will see humor in it as well. I mean the guy put the jump back up!

Of course the keyboard social justice warriors are up in arms on the Facebook comments

Silver for the German team. And the one horse for Germany who won Gold 4 years ago. 4 years later, the Silver for him.

Me too! What a great guy and hey, his horse was cantering away, he was standing right there - why not do something useful?!

And now individual gold for the German team horse who happens to be Dutch.
