Eventing at 2016 Olympics in Rio

I’m fan girling hard over Pippa and her gray–I have always been a huge fan of her ever since I was a kid.[/QUOTE]

The grey is strong, I am definitely watching with my eyes half closed!

He’s getting better as the course goes, but I did not envy her checking him and getting him to listen to her through some of those combos…

The Irish horse fall was from this morning.

lot of greys today eh>

She looks absolutely gassed at the end, while he was like “More?!”

I haven’t gotten to watch any until now, but I got the play by play of earlier from my husband. He didn’t even want to meet my horse when we first met 5 years ago. He started doing a bit of riding, but it wasn’t until we went to the Pan Am games, and he watched cross country until he started doing lessons and what not. Today, as he was going over the course, and talking about the issues and concerns on it (quite knowledgably!) I realized that the eventing bug truly had bit him, because while he thought the course looked difficult, he still wanted to do cross country, lol.

I thought so too! He looked like a handful today.

Clarke sure made it look easy! What a nice horse!

Lauren Kieffer and Veronica just fell at the gate after the cottage (23 and 24 I think). Both appear okay.

US is out. Looks like Veronica caught a front at a gate and tumbled–not a true rotational fall, but she was on her side for an uncomfortable period of time on the ground. She’s up and walking, though, as is Lauren.

That was a nasty fall. Glad they both appear to be ok.

OMG NO! Not Veronica!

God I pray she’s ok.

The same thing happened this morning at that combination. I ws worried as Veronica didn’t get up right away.

I wouldn’t mind a go with the bay that the Japanese rider is on right now. Honest going fellow with a good stride.

I think it was the German rider Donckers who just fell at the one-stride brush jumps

Did Lauren take the direct route there? If so, I wonder why she didn’t take the long route as she took a long route earlier.

Lots of falls and refusals and retirements, ugh

I really hope Lauren and Veronica are ok. Maybe Veronica just had the wind knocked out of her or was stunned for a moment – she just didn’t try to move for what seemed like the longest time.

I hope Veronica is ok. I’m hoping she was just winded and that’s why she didn’t get up right away?!

Sure seems like the USA has a hard time pulling things together when it comes to Olympic competition… and it seems like some are going way too fast! If your horse can’t get it’s legs out of the way of the fence to jump, you are going too fast! Some make me very nervous to watch

Pawel Spisak and Banderas just fell - Banderas looks gimpy in the hind :frowning:

ETA - at the ski jump (downhill to the really skinny)

Rebecca Howard and Riddle Master home safe for Canada with 12.4 time faults!

She did take the short/straight route. I wondered why as well, especially after so many had issues taking that way through and knowing she had to finish. Tough break, I hope she is really ok.

Who is the man doing the USA channel commentary? Is he a horse person?
