Farnley ponies, Foxhollow ponies & Glenmore ponies
any one know much about this pony? I have heard he was great but nothing specific… we have a lrg. welsh cross out of him who we love!
He was one of the most famous stallions ever. I sure hope urs is BY him and not out of …or he was really flexible.

Does anyone know what ever became of Farnley Blue Chip or Farnely Hi C. The last I remember of Blue Chip was Mandy Moore had him and did really well in the larges at WEF in the 1980’s.

Susan Linton had Hi C and won the AHSA medium pony title in the 80’s as well but then I dont remember hearing much about the pony after that.

There is a Tickled Pink (without the prefix) pictured in the most recent Practical Horseman with Liza Towell in her pony days, is it the same pony?

I can’t imagine giving another pony the same name, even if it was sired by Lustre, he was a very special pony and his name deserves to be “retired” IMO.

WORD.

And as far as most knew, it had been. No one would/should touch that one.

Yea, I talked to my trainer, and this Lustre, was just lustre, and he was sired by Cherrybrook Lustre:)
so yea, I was wrong, lol.

I love my Glenmore pony (Anhinga)! Performed well in the show ring and is still a blast to ride, love, and adore. Thank you Betty!

Farnley Colorado ( Danny) : Mary Ann Fox in the late 70’s early 80’s

I love it when this thread resurfaces.

Does anyone know what Nilla Wafer’s breeding was? I remember seeing him in all the Chronicles when Heather Caristo rode him. What an adorable pony! I’m not sure if the kids these days even know recognize his name.

I’ve thought about writing to Farnley to hunt down the bloodlines of my childhood pony, Farnley Garnet. I rode her in the late 80’s/early 90’s and think she must have been born in the early 70’s. She wasn’t the fanciest Farnley but she was worth her weight in gold. I should probably pick my childhood trainer’s brain first since she might remember. I also remember a Farnley Brightwing being scribbled in the lockers at Pam Baker’s old Hillcrest in Virginia Beach. I’m guessing that one may have been a nice pony.

Who is running the farm for Joan? Do they allow visitors at the farm or are they very private these days? Curious because it’s not much more than an hour away. Would be neat to see that many ponies on one farm.

remember farnley porphry, he was buff wilson’s large in the 70’s and meg milone’s small, farnley sir roger. then, she started and showed blue chip in the greens and the larges and they were champ everywhere! she sold him to maryellen coenen at the end of his green year.

On July 18 at the Old Dominion Horse Show (and the North American Pony Futurity) there will be an award presentation and reception for Mrs. Dunnning (Farnley Farm) for Lifetime Acheivement in pony breeding. Anyone that would like to thank and honor her is welcome to go to the website listed below to get all the details. From this thread it looks like there are many that have been the recipients of the great ponies that Joan bred over the years. Lets let her know how much joy her breeding work added to our lives.

What a great idea, and long overdue.

Each year we plan to honor another deserving recipient with award and reception. There are so many that we have quite a list already!

Does anybody know a pony named Shenandoah’s Camelot? I heard he’d won A LOT back in his day. He was at my old barn and semi-retired. He’s almost 30.

Farnley Nimbus - Debbie Moore?

OK, the rusty wheels of my 80’ s memories are sqweaking…but I’ m pretty sure Glenmore Sally was one of Alison Firestone’ s firsts…and I think that a family from MD who showed with Patty/ Mary Lisa Nicholson had Sally before or after that. Can someone confirm this?
I owned her back in 90-91 not sure exactly, I used to train with Holly Chester and Pam Baker.

That pony was a witch to ride at indoor shows. Dunno if anyone remembers my spectacular stack on her a WIHS?

It was sad that all of you Farnley pony fans, riders and owners were unable to participate in the Lifetime Acheivement Breeder award that the North American Pony Futurity gave to Mrs. Dunning last week. We asked for stories about your ponies, and where your lives have gone due to those ponies. We got few, but the ones we got were amazing and so heartfelt. Sorry some of you missed the tribute and reception for the presentation trophy The award is an incredibly fitting painting by Cheryl Hight entitled " Tribute to Lustre". Each year there will be another recipient that we will honor for their significant contribution to pony breeding in North America. Their names will be added on brass plates around the perimeter of the frame. Hetty Abeles, Mrs. Dunning’s daughter received the honor in her behalf. Mrs. Dunning is 101 years old this year.
We are compiling all the notes, photos, testimonials, etc. in a memory book for Mrs. Dunning and her family. If you missed the presentation you can still make the memory book. A copy will also be held in perpetuity with the NAPF. Please try to send all your kind contributions by Sept. 1, 2009. Consider becoming a “Friend of the Pony Futurity”. Our website is below. Please use regular email rather than pm’s for this. Thanks for your interest.

Somehow I missed this thread with your comments about the the award. I know the award was presented already but I would be interested in making a contribution and would also love to write a note to Ms. Dunning about my Farnley pony. Is it too late to contribute?

No Garnet, it is not too late. Please read edited post above for how you and others can participate. I know they would love to hear about your ponies and what they have meant in your life…

I think anyone who considers themself a Pedigree Aficionado like myself gives the nod to her as a mentor. Talk about a Visionary!
