Farnley Oaten

We bought and started Oatie as a 3 year old - probably the easiest baby we ever broke - also the fattest! Oatey was at least 300 ponds over weight when we brought her home ! if I can find some of the pics of her when we first got her I will post them with a link to our website.

How about Liseter Ponies?

My first pony was Liseter’s Bright Magician…I got him when he was semi-retired (early 70s), but heard he’d had quite a career. He was definitely a character and wow could he buck!

I have a wonderful older broodmare - she is by Liseter Cadet. She has quite a show record and is just a wonderful broodmare in her show retirement. Her name is Am I Blue --her photos are on my website -under broodmares, she has a link if anyone would like to see. She was 9th overall at Pony Finals back in her day, as well as Horse of the Year- in the Medium Greens in 96.
She is actually my stallion’s wife and is a fantastic wife! You should hear her grouch at him after he’s been off the farm to be collected to do his job!

Do you remember a pony named Glenmore Daisy?

I was hoping to ask Betty if she remembered a pony named Glenmore Daisy? I was told she ended up being a lovely broodmare but would love to know more about her.

Of the Liseter ponies, the hands down star was Liseter Shooting Star, who sired all the top ponies back in the day (1960’s and 1970’s).

See his amazing Progeny listed here: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/liseter+shooting+star

Liseter Cadet was a grandson of Liseter Shooting Star as was Pengwyn.

my Farnley friends

I knew Farnley Thistle :eek:at Stubis farm /Greenwich, CT; and found farnley Caligo;) for Amy Thedurkauf also of Greenwich.

Ashley Briggs was one of the first owners of Glenmore Devonshire Cream - I believe she or her sister broke her green. Peaches sure was a fun pony! Ashley and I used to gallop the smalls through hunt country when they briefly lived in Camden and those ponies had no problems jumping the big coops!

Something about this thread got me wondering whether it’s just an old tale that prefixes get lost. This thread noted some super famous prefixes, but, like Farnley, some are no more (or almost) due to the passage of time. So I got to wondering what prefixes are still out there in abundance (and success). So, so, here’s a “kudos to you” list of prefixes among the entries at the 2008 Pony Finals.

Oh, but first, would you like to guess which prefixes had the most ponies at the finals? For those who want to guess, I’ve left some space before presenting the results.

I was shocked to see no Woodlands on this list!

There were four Sugarbrook ponies showing. One wasSugarbrook Billy The Kid (a pure bred welsh) and Bluetiful showing in the small greens. Then Up Till Dawn in the mediums, and Incrediblue in the smalls. Three Sugarbrook’s went thru the sale, two selling, one a no sale.

A number of Woodland’s ponies were there. Let me ck with Thalia (who for some reason cannot get on to post and asked me to do it for her) and I will respond with those Woodlands there at the show. There were also Helicon ponies showing. More in a bit.

That list posted was NOT from Pony Finals 2009. That was her 2008 post and if you continue reading, I added several other prefixes that were left out from that year.

What does NOTG mean? Not on the ? ??

Liseter ponies

I have a Liseter Eagle son, and he is a wonderful pony, willing, eager, just a pleasure to train. I also have a Rosmel bred gelding, what a personality, very much a pocket pony. I will be looking for the bloodlines with my next project.

Farm Names ( Prexifes)

I have never given much thought over the last 24 or so years about using SUGARBROOK for my foals born here. Lately I have thought, how dumb of me not to of used the name. I have sooooooo many out there, lost by name changes. For better, or worse, from now on, everyone of my babies will have Sugarbook bla bla bla for their name. I will do that when they are weanlings and do the lifetime registration for just a bit of money. Guess I will see how that makes things better for me to track the youngsters.

Just a thought from me!! Pony Finals really got me thinking about this, and expecially when the post came on that only X amount of X farm ponies where showing. I know better, and so do many of the breeders out there in the same position that I am in.

Anyone else going to start doing that? OH I know, many have already done it. I love it.

Not sure if this has already been answered PWynn, but Clovercroft and Clovermeade has one of the same owners. You can see the article in the current issue of Paisley Pony about Cloe Olympian. Cheryl Patton and her partner (cannot remember her name right now) went their seperate ways and the name changed to Clovermeade.

Sandy-Both my colts from 2008 were registered with my prefix and lifetime USEF. There was a thread on here a while ago discussing whether or not it was a waste of money to register with the USEF at a young age because people just change the name anyways. I decided to try it and see what happens.
