I’ll check the Ponyo site out!
Chicks has some of the WB Saxon pony blankets that are pretty affordable. I’m keen on the piggy print one lol

Not 100, but 150g, Centaur blankets are amazing. My only complaint is they don’t have more options. The one I am retiring this year has had AT LEAST ten years of hard use. I’ve had both the 150 and 300 and I adore them.
I just got the Smartpak Ultimate trifecta on a ridiculous deal - it was $160 It came with the outer lite/sheet, and 2 liners (100g and 200g). I have been very pleased with the quality and durabilty of the Smartpak Ultimate line and I needed a 2nd 100g blanket, and really did not want to just get a 100g liner for the lite Rambos I have. So now I’m still dealing with a sheet with liner to get the 100g but at that price it seemed silly not to have all the options. I am hoping to find that pulling the liner out on days it gets warm is easy enough.
ETA: I needed to replace a Dover Rider’s Supreme 100g that maresy had outgrown. Her booty was hanging out of it a little too much for decency That has held up remarkably well for how much use it has seen.
Me again. I have this one in a chocolate color and its worth every penny and I use it alot.
Me too - have the 100g Rambo in brown. I have a horse who is very particular about what he wears (and expresses his dissatisfaction by removing anything offending him). He loves this one.
I think the Rambo Original Line is still a great investment. They upped the denier on the Supreme line and @PaddockWood and I commented on how heavy it has become. Not the case for the original line IMO. I’m a sucker for green so snagged one at the sale.
I’ll come back to tout the wonderfulness of Premier Equine blankets again. I love every single one I’ve had, they fit my TBs and WBs well and also fit a friend’s tanky Morgan well. Sizes are generous. They hold up to my field of frat boys who play hard, and I have yet to have one leak even after the horses were out in days of record breaking rain without changing blankets. I have a 70g, two 100g, a 150g, and three 200g blankets from both their Titan and Buster lines. https://www.premierequine.co.uk/
Thanks for reminding me about these. I love how many different weight options UK brands seem to have. My heavy weight blankets only get used a handful of times a year, but my lightweight blankets are used constantly.
Any experience with how they fit a narrow chested but wide barreled horse? So far I have yet to find anything that works besides the Horseware chest closure that is the two clips to the one ring. I don’t know why it makes such a huge difference but it does. Everything else pulls back and binds her up.
Hmm, I have a pretty narrow-chested TB that balloons into a pretty wide barrel who fits well in their Titan line. The chests don’t come with a ton of adjustability (there’s no buckles to shorten or lengthen the strap, but there are two rings to clip tighter or looser) One of the things I really like about the PE blankets is that they are fit to go over the withers well–I haven’t had any issues with them sliding back the way I’ve experienced with some other blankets. I always hated coming out and finding my horses with a tightly bound chest because the blanket had slipped back. My horses are out 24/7 and blankets don’t always come off every day, so it’s important to me that they fit well.
Smartpak carries some of their blankets, although doesn’t have the full range of weights and colors. If you want a safer bet, maybe order from them so you can easily return it if it doesn’t work? I do recommend measuring to their size chart, as the cuts are generous.
I have this blanket for each of my horses and it’s super. It sees heavy use all winter and has held up beautifully.
If Rambo is going to pot, I’m tempted to get several more as spares. Rambo is the only thing that fits my guys well :-/
Oh my a pony could not be prettier. OH how I love chrome. I have that original and forgot I do like it. Thank you for the reminder.
And thank you Simkie. I will order based on your review and @BraveSC appreciate that heads up that it’s a good one.
Yeah Barnes could you compare these to Rambo? And specifically fit. What I’ve LOVED about Rambos is never ever a rub. Even their Amigo and Rhino caused rubs on my horses. Never Rambo. I’m intrigued and sound like where we might need to go in the future. The 70g option sounds perfect and your glowing review sounds like they are amazing.
So disappointing that you would consider returning?
Can you share the quality and what you like about the Smartpak Ultimate? Can you compare it to Rambos? $160 sounds very attractive.
I will fully admit that I’ve never owned a Rambo Original, Optimo, Supreme, or the like because I have simply refused to pay $300+ for a sheet. I have owned several Rhinos, and I MUCH prefer the fit, finish, and fabric of the Premier Equine blankets, personally. I LOVE the variety of weights that I can get without having to layer–I really don’t like fussing with blanket liners, and I’ve just never had good luck with sheets. I do have a couple horses who are happier with BOT sheets on underneath their blankets, but that’s the extent of the layering I’ll do.
Blankets I have had in the past, and slowly phased out after finding PE blankets: Kensington, Rhino, Schneiders (both their EuroCut and their Warrior/ArmorFlex/wtfever they’re called now–won’t own another after some astoundingly bad customer service), Amigo, Weatherbeeta, Shires, SmartPak Ultimate, Dover NorthWind, Pessoa. I still have a couple Shires, one Schneider’s, one Rhino, and one Pessoa sheet. My oldest PE blankets are going on four years old and doing well, including during this really horrendous wet winter we had in CA this year where we’d get inches of rain each day, non stop, and my horses refuse to use their shelter. I splurged and picked up the 70g and another 200g this year as I had one horse who was running a little toasty in the 100g + BOT sheet, and one who wanted a little more warmth than his 100g was running.
I can’t promise they’ll be miracle blankets for anyone else, but I have been beyond thrilled! I will say, my horses play fight and grab blankets and even the low man on the herd’s blankets survived all winter. However, I don’t have any houdinis who like to undress themselves, so I can’t speak to the PE blankets’ stickability in that sense.
We really appreciate all this detail. Thank you and wow you’ve owned so many makers. I’m someone who does love a liner and can have it off underneath in like 30 secs. I like them because they keep the blanket cleaner on the underside - less washing and losing the waterproof over time.
I like their generous fit - you’ve not had issues with rubs sounds like and that matters so much to me. That and a generous fit. I cannot imagine being a horse in a tight blanket. Sounds awful.
Yes, I have one horse who gets horrible shoulder rubs from other blankets. He got rubbed raw in one night by a Schneider’s fly sheet, I felt awful! He never rubbed to the point of rawness in winter blankets, but he’d have naked shoulders all winter in Schneiders, Shires, or Rhino. I’ve not had any rubbing issues with the PE blankets. I specifically have the high neck ones for him because he runs chilly but doesn’t like full necks, but he’s also worn their regular cut without an issue.
I am a big fan of the Turtleneck rain sheet.
What is great about Turtleneck 1) the neck is stretchy, so it really helps with the fit, without choking your horse.
2) the surcingles are stretchy too. And they have clips on both sides, so less chance to tear the blanket.
3) when you order a blanket they also give you a spare neck fleece and a spare pair of leg straps.
4) deep body, long tail flap,
I have one of these that must be 15 yrs old, and I think every single time I put it on or take it off, I think how much I love this blanket.
I bought a new one last year, and they have changed the fabric, I can’t decide if I like it as well.
I tend to use a rainsheet on its own, until it gets colder, and then put a stable blanket underneath, or a 100 gm blanket.
Turtleneck just doesn’t have the world wide reach and distributorship of the better known blankets, but they are my fav, hands down.
