And I have a couple of Amigos but on my horses the shoulders were tight. Is there an Amigo that fits like a Rambo? I will not order another Rambo. I’m done. I think. It’s hard when you’ve been such a fan.
And the Rambo prices have certainly gone up! Up-thread, I defended the Rambos, especially the Supreme ones I used for my older mare for years. I wouldn’t do that now. She only has one left; I replaced her rainsheet and medium with Rhinos.
Private equity is evil IMO. Does it ever do anyone other than the investors any good?
Huh. The front closure is about as close as I’ve ever seen to Rambo’s v front. And a tail cord! Please come back and update once you receive, I’d love to know what you think of it.
Right me too. We want a review. It’s looks so comfortable.
I like the scrunchy neck cover
I took a chance and ordered a Pessoa 150g. So far I am loving it. It’s hard to describe but the way it fits under the neck, without being tight, something about how it is cut? Works really well. Comes up just high enough on the neck, this one came with a neck cover (which I don’t use). My mare is a 78 and the sizing is generous without being too big.
I don’t care for the snaps on the leg straps, but those are an easy swap. If this blanket holds up the way it appears it will, may be my new go-to favorite.
So I got the blanket yesterday and fitted it this morning on two separate horses to see how it worked on them.
It turned out to be too big for the QH by about 2" but with the front closure, I was able to adjust it perfectly for his shoulders. Usually I have to upsize to fit his shoulders but I didn’t need to in this blanket. He’s a 75" in Rambo and a 78" in Weathbeeta and every other brand to fit his giant thick self. I’m going to order him a 75 in this blanket.
For my ASB, I adjusted the shoulder to fit and everything else fit perfectly. He’s a 78 in pretty much everything even in this brand of blanket.
Positives:
I love the way the neck cover stays off the mane and doesn’t rub, It is very adjustable in the shoulder fit, I could get it on and off without taking off my gloves - the closures are very easy and seem sturdy, I tested it with a hose and it seemed quite waterproof.
It seems just as well made as my higher-end Weatherbeetas and but with better thought-out strap placement. I like it better than the new Rambos as it is not as heavy but just as stiff to hold its shape.
I haven’t had any wet weather to test in except my hose test, so that’s my only pause atm.
i just wish the SS tack ones came in open front. I love the slots for the legstraps vs. having to clip the liners to the over blanket.
That’s great feedback, thank you for sharing such a thorough run down! Super curious to hear how it wear for you, too! Rambo has been the only thing that doesn’t rub my crew–sure would be nice if this one was similarly reliable. It seems promising!
I work with Shires and love the Templest plus line.
This is the 100g, It has shoulder panels, snap closures, and the rubber tail guard.

I’ve just discovered my coveted Rambo Supreme in black and gold is no longer waterproof. Fortunately have the receipt - purchased March 2021 and will return under warranty and get an Original w Leg Arches. I do not want the new Supreme 1680 - so heavy. I really need to weigh and compare these two.
I’ve never had to return a Rambo.
How unpleasant.
Not a Rambo, but my Amigo XL sheet has me questioning its waterproofing after reading your post. It’s only a year old, has never been washed with detergent (only hosed off) and has seen light use only. Our last rainy and cool spell, I found my horse a bit damp in places. At the time I didn’t suspect the water proofing but now …
Left horse out in a heavy rain storm, he came in grumpy but completely dry underneath.
So I’m a fan. It will be interesting to see how long it stays waterproof.
God I’ve loved this gorgeous sheet. And it keeps my guy snugly warm and it’s so light and easy.
I’ve washed it only in Rambo Wash on cold and usually only once or twice a year.
I was shocked the other day to see it look strangely like the water has gone through and it was damp over his rump. So grateful to have the receipt and be within the time period.
I’ve complained about Rambo lately but still cannot give up on the brand. Got the burgundy Original with Leg Arches recently and it’s light and can take a liner. I love being able to swap a 100g or 200g and wash them so easily in the wash.
I did find this.
Ok well, I didn’t know you have to submit info online for the warranty. Did ya’ll know that? My Supreme
may not be covered because I’m pretty certain I didn’t fill out extra info.
Has everyone else known you needed to do this extra step for coverage?
This is being confirmed by the gal I just spoke to at Smartpak.
I think this is a function of LL Bean getting scammed by so many people with their “lifelong guarantee.” Companies are just a lot more cautious.
I believe that the Rhino blankets I bought for Feronia in the past year had instructions to register online for the guarantee on one of the (many) tags that came with them. I think I did it for 2 or the 3 blankets but I am honestly not sure.
Yeah, they’ve had this process for awhile now? First thing I do after removing the tags.
I don’t recall noticing that or reading and bet I never did anything online. And I accept responsibility if that’s the case. Just tonight found the two BRAND NEW Supreme 1680’s I just bought are not waterproof. I’m returning them both. Fortunately I have a new Original (and I had another dry liner) and an old, gorgeous 200gm Navy Rambo I could put on them tonight. We’ve got rain/sleet/snow all day today and more coming tonight.
Unbelievably disappointing. My mare just had major dental work and my guy is PSSM2. Having them damp on their rump is not acceptable. I’ll bet there’s a general problem with the new 1680 material.
That is extremely upsetting. Nobody is putting high dollar blankets on their horses because they want them to get wet.
