Favorite 100g Turnout Blanket - 2022 edition

They are calling out the Wug styles as they don’t put a pressure point right forward of the withers. I’ve not seen any dips like they describe but I’m not surprised as poorly fitted equipment of any sort can harm a horse

I was swapping out blankets today–the old lady needed her heavy!–and realized the Busse blanket has the same Velcro hood connectors in the same spot as the Rambo Supreme:

I think the liner rings might be the same, too?? I have a Rambo liner around here somewhere, I’ll see if I can find it and check.

I have the Busse hood for this blanket, too. Will probably get it on tomorrow!

I’ve really been pleasantly surprised with the Busse. I’d file it under “exceeding expectations” at this point. I might buy a couple more for the other horses!

I love interchangeable parts between brands! That’s awesome

OMG too. The parts are so often just locked into ONE LINE, often even of ONE BRAND. Really nice to know the Busse and Horseware parts mix and match. Although I think the non Supreme HW hoods attach via rings, rather than velco…? So it’s a little specific I guess!

My Amigo XL hood attaches via rings (identical to the rings for the liners) but the placement is different than regular Amigos as I found out recently.

I personally like how Shires, Weatherbeeta and SmartPak have the exterior rings to attach hoods. Even if the rings are in slightly different places it’s easy enough to modify to make work using different branded pieces.

The PE hood attaches via Velcro but I don’t have any Rambo Supremes or Busses to compare it too.

I think I’m going to get one. I’ll buy a plus size one though for this particular horse.

That’s kind of how I’ve felt with most Busse stuff, “pleasantly surprised” because in general, there stuff is OK. I’ve got a few odds and ends from them.

Is there another way to buy blankets other than panicking and receiving multiple emails for sales?! I still think I may need more…

I just need different blankets. Not more blankets

Ooooh, I hope you let us know what you think! Although I don’t have a “husky” horse now, I’m so curious how they fit those guys!

I never feel like I have enough either!! It’s a real problem. Ha ha! Like seriously, I have one horse and we lease another. You’d think I have 5!

I’m checking out the Country Pride Arctic Breeze 100g turnout blanket and am wondering about the sizing. My pony wears a 63" and the CP comes in a 62" and 64". Would he be better in a 64"? Are even-numbered sizes measured differently?

He’s a very fluffy pony outside 24/7 who rarely uses his shed. Most of his blankets rip on his right side, which is the side he lays on in his rocky field. You’ve all convinced me that this lighter weight blanket would be useful; I’ve always used lightweight no-fill turnout sheets before and wondered if he could use something heavier. And the price is great (of course, I’m five cents below the free shipping minimum).

It was 45 and sunny (warm honestly) at 9 am this morning. Now it says it’s a real feel of 1 degree. My horse broke one heavy blanket and my second heavy got broken as well ( I think someone slammed the cupboard on the clips in -18 degrees and cracked them .) So I’m going now to throw the 100 gram over his medium!!!

I always size up. That is a good price!

Ugh Simkie, the Busse looks nice. I’m NOT ordering one now, but if I may need one in the future, where could I find one of these??

I’d get the 64” for sure. I think the sizing is very comparable, just in 2” increments instead of 3”.

Unless the 63” are always biggish on him. Then get the 62”.

Clear as mud?

Poland! I posted the link in my post with all the pics above :grin:

Please share if you do! And also what store you order from!

Oh no! Good thing you have options!

Maybe I just need more totes instead of paring down my collection

This is a much more reasonable option to me. I actually just remembered 2 more at the farm my retired guy is at. I didn’t bring them home last year. Ooops. More spares i guess. Current storage is a tack locker my husband built to use at a prior boarding place. You can only fit so many in a Rubbermaid tub after all.

Fancy! Mine are lucky to go in a tote. Maybe one of those deck storage boxes would work.

I coughmrlscough could expand the decking in my attic to make room for lots of totes for off season storage.
