I was trying to think how that might be scored, tongue in cheek. Lets see. “Nice halt (5); need to remain on all four feet a little longer (-2) = 3”.
LOL
This whole time I had no idea this thread concerned NP. To those who can’t understand why people here post about him, I’ll simply refer you to post number 1 and the link embedded. He has a long history of inflammatory behavior, on COTH and elsewhere.
The best part of his post is that he says he’s going to ride FEI next year!
Locally, if that were a Training level ride I think it would score a 58% with mostly 5s and 6s which is a quite decent score for a pair that has decent geometry without a steady connection.
Perhaps he has renamed Carpathia FEI
So, I watched the video of his first 3L test (I think!)… that horse is moving quietly, not a sign of being spooky. She has no topline, and is head bobbing from what looks to be lack of strength (think horses learning to sit on the hind leg, losing their balance and pitching forwards to catch themselves as their backs aren’t developed enough). Honestly, the horse is a wonderful mare. Her FLC are so unbalanced she throws herself into a new lead (my horse would have bucked if I asked whilst she was that unbalanced) with such willingness. No evidence of ability to sit or expand in the gaits. She is a TL horse with a TL rider aboard.
It is funny that he’s complaining about getting a low score for an un-square halt … not a one of those galleries has a decent halt. Most of the time, she’s unbalanced, on her forehand and her head is up in the air, taking it all in. That’d get you a 4 or 5 at Training level so yeah, I can totally see how you’d get a 2 or 3 at 3rd/4th. And I’m speaking from experience here … try putting a decent halt on a halter trained arab. You halt, all 4 feet square, feeling good and then … the one leg goes back and the head comes UUUUUP! The first time I got a 6, I did a jig.
Video??
Link please…
Aah, if only he was in my area! If I rode a PSG test against him, and the judges scored according to the other entries (as he believes), instead of to a standard – I’d SOOOO get my last two scores for my Silver!
Folks asking for the video, I believe it’s linked in the last thread about him showing 4th as an amateur (which continued on through when he showed 3rd but in open).
Edit: Just skimmed through the second half of the thread and didn’t see any active links to his test videos… perhaps those who have just viewed them could share the link?
This morning I audited a clinic given by the chef d’equipe of the Dutch team. From this point forward I will be referring to myself as a student of his
(if you haven’t read NPs posts on the early threads you won’t get why that’s funny, so please don’t bother to respond with snark.)
PM for the link. I don’t wish for the video to disappear.
The mare was actually going quite well…for training level… she is a saint.
I posted so much on this thread for those that Nick is abusing- horse, judges, and women who have no voice here.
The horse is recently listed for sale for $15,000 for those of you interested in a quiet horse. On facebook ‘dressage horses weanlings to GP’
[edit]
And another post stating yet again he’s looking for another place to board his animal… it’s a mystery how he keeps going through barns like socks hmmmmm.
Be warned that he wants photos and videos of you riding, references, name of your trainer etc. before he will even send you a video, let alone make an appointment to see her. And God forbid you tell him she’s not what you’re looking for - reference the screen shot from his Facebook upthread with th the oh-so professional language for someone in the market for a fancier horse.
She looks to be such a willing and kind mare - hope somebody nice snaps her up
Her chances to find somebody nice are being reduced by all this negative crap going on I am sure that many nice people will not even contact him after googling him… You did such a great job and the poor horse might suffer from it…
Give it a rest Manni. Blaming us (or me) for where this horse ends up is overly dramatic, even for you. I would think the opposite is true - the more people who Google him, the better the chances are someone knowdgable will want to rescue this sweet mare from him. So good job everyone!
Indeed, he has only himself to blame for a reputation that precedes him, training on that horse that isn’t, and the tall tales that are transparent [16.3! LOL] and a price that needs at least one less 0 in it. Thanks to the Maestro, I don’t think she has to pack that baker blanket just yet.
I do agree she’s a nice, lower level mare that will do well once given a chance to regroup from this ‘training’ and after she’s put into appropriate work for her present conditioning. She’s has the patience of a saint, that we can all see!
Good Luck to her!
