Favorite Classical Trainer Nick Peronace VS USDF Judging Standards

I didn’t think she actually looked particularly thin in the photos, just poorly conditioned and really wrongly muscled.

my comments about his mental state were deleted by the mods… it’s sad that we can’t discuss as it’s central to this thread. He needs help. I think it’s clear no system will license him, nor should they.

I sincerely hope he can get the help he needs, I’ve been saying that for years.

Big Mama: “…but TONS of fantastic coaches and trainers are not certified and frankly knowing some who are - I can say it’s no guarantee of quality. Requiring a recent show record is problematic as well, since many choose to focus on training and teaching and don’t compete themselves. A conundrum.” Yes it is. Especially since that description is ME. LOL I haven’t shown in over 15 years (not by choice, just circumstance.)

If that was the case, facilities not feeding to instructions, he would most likely say so.
It’s not like he’s shy.
And he said TBs are thin… so it sounds like ignorance that there’s a problem, not "I am trying, but crap facilities aren’t doing as I ask and pay for.’

If you register your lease with USEF and USDF, you can put yourself down as owner.

Let’s not forget that his mare was previously an up/down lesson horse before he/his parents bought her. It’s not like he bought a horse straight off the track.

He’s been doing a good job for the last 8 (and more) years warning people away with his own words and his own actions.

I saw reference to a new word today, “Crybully”.

The thing I know about TBs is that they can lose weight very quickly, but put on weight a little slower than other breeds. I also know that they can eat A LOT when trying to put weight on them. The horse has been in his care for about a year and has not gained any real fitness or weight. I’m a little floored with 6 flakes of hay a day, but I’d be totally behind that if that is what it takes.

How many flakes of hay does Carpathia get? And how much grain?

I agree they drop weight like the dickens. Eight weeks ago mine had a left dorsal displacement. Thankfully it turned out to be minor and easily resolved but the impact to his physique of no food for two and a half days was extreme. He looked like a weedy little runt overnight, it was terrible! I feel like it took six weeks to recover his body from that two days.

exactly, that much change would stress any horse.

So very true.

Most owners that are barn bouncing (because they can not find the right fit, not saying they are at fault) take that into account and add to their horse’s diet what is needed to keep them as comfortable as possible during the constant change. Maybe add something for ulcers, etc.

I wonder if she’s had her teeth done since he bought her?

I thought she was an up/down lesson horse? Certainly not straight off the track. And if anything, I think her incorrect muscling is worse in the pics from the second show than the first, which tells a clear story about how she is being ridden.

Yes, you’re right. She was an up/down lesson horse, certainly not a hunter.

It’s too bad thoroughbreds are so skinny and downhill and just can’t move at all and certainly can’t sit behind.

It looks like his placings were 2nd and 4th.

(Thank you for posting the links!)

Ah…makes perfect sense. So she’s really still just doing the up/down, only with just one rider.

See in Canada with those scores you don’t place. You must get over 60% for a first place. You have to earn your placings.

Not understanding what you are saying, In 4:1 he was 4th of 4,

in 3:1 2nd of two

neither score was fantastic.

Last weekend in my Level 1 3, I was the only competitor, won the Saturday class, but could only manage 3rd of one on Sunday because we sucked! So yes, if you are the only person, you have to earn your score and ribbon.

Something positive came out of this thread after all - it’s a showcase for awesome TBs! Netg, Duckz, if you get tired of those two bays they have a home in my barn. Damn nice!

My guy has a home for life - with a barn built to his specifications (1 acre run off it) for his retirement when that day comes!

Funny enough, I think in my riding pic I am in the saddle I got from Duckz. Which is now with COTHer Emipou.
