Geez, I haven’t been doing my daily reading for a few days, so was excited to see this thread at the top again, thinking there was a development. I should have known better that it would just be a few pushing their personal agenda into every possible related topic.

What would be so surprising in that?
All do that regularly, is why they read and post here.
There is even the thought that some may be pushed by those groups to defend them here and there.
Why do I think so?
They seem to show up regularly after those groups start an “action alert” on some or another “drive of the moment”.
We should all be glad that we have a place to converse, no matter what anyone wants to say.
Why?
There would not be much purpose to forums, if all there is in them is a few handpicked posters patting each other on the back regularly, don’t you think?
I like it when those that do good are praised, but also when those that don’t are called to task, as here, no matter what other agendas anyone may have, like the ban slaughter ones certain groups push relentlessly when it is convenient for them.
Absolutely it’s a free place to speak, and that’s a good thing. But when there’s unrelated agendas pushed into every single convo, it’s just plain annoying. I just responded to a convo about offering horses forever homes and the poster above me used it as a platform for the carriage horse debate.
Honestly, it’s annoying, and it’s just not relevant. Want to have a convo about other rescues that you have a problem with, then start that convo. Want to have a convo about carriage horses, then start that and keep it there.
I think we could all argue that any point about horses is relevant, as we are talking about horses, but really it’s just plain annoying.
And I think I am guilty of it too, as I want to hear news about AC4Hs as I am local and had a minor level of experience, very minor. So honestly, I’d just like to hear about that, in this particular conversation. Is that too much to really ask?

I came across the following AC4H-related situation yesterday on Facebook. An OTTB by the name of “Redeeming Grace” apparently double-“bailed” from AC4H - first by a private individual, then by a rescue in FL - the rescue ended up with her.
Photo of Redeeming Grace when “bailed” from AC4H by Florida TRAC (after already being paid for by Linda Brown, including paying for “board” until she could be shipped) - interesting discussion in the comments:

Linda Brown then asks Florida TRAC about her:

I’m thinking the FBI investigation is going to take quite a long time as there could well be many more similar stories being reported to them.

Actually Linda B not only bailed the horse and paid the rest of that whole ‘thing’ but also paid for 3 months of QT in PA for the horse. Cha-Ching.
It’s my understanding that the FL rescue also paid some of those same fees, and the horse looked like crap when she came out of the QT Linda paid AC4H to send her to, iirc an AC4H recommended QT spot.
Per the FL rescue Redeeming Grace is one of 4 they ‘saved’ via AC4H.
Makes one wonder how the finances of the other 3 added up.
One of her mode of operations was to get AC4H horses funded to be bought and then transported to her and then she dumped them on the local humane society.
And IIRC there have also been other issues.
I am glad you got some good horses from Diana. She did start out with the right intentions as I recall, but then things apparently changed.
What would be the benefit of having free horses sent to her so she could dump them on someone else?

I believe that people donated to bail and transport the horses, and the Diana person also collected donations to keep the horses she then dumped.
It’s not always that case that these people want a financial reward from this venture.
The perfect marriage, if you will, is that of one person/group who wants the money and another person/group who wants the ‘acclaim’ of being a savior. This savior pursuit is what contributes to so many of these rescue becoming hoarders who actually neglect the animals because they feed on this so much that they quickly get in over their heads with animals they can not afford or physically provide care for.
Maybe I missed it in 20 pages of stuff, but why is AC4H still posting “available” horses on their Facebook page? As of 12 hours ago.

Because the sheer volume of evidence the FBI is dealing with is making it slow going to get them charged? Good cases take time. That the FBI went in with a warrant and took what they took shows they had good evidence going in, and now they’re collecting even more.
The FBI is now asking for anyone who paid for a horse and got a sick horse, wrong horse, or no horse, or faked or no paperwork [coggins, etc] to contact them.

well my horse was sick, but i expected it as he went thru the auction.
He had some sort of flu like thing. I tested him for strangles and it was negative so we just kept him at QT barn for 2 weeks and treated him. He is fine now.
Found some more on VFH:

Well unlike you many bought horses who arrived, for QT or after receiving QT care that were sick and fatally so, or emaciated. Some got horses who turned out to be lame, or not the husband type the ‘rescue’ claimed it was.
That sort of thing is what they are looking for now, is my understanding.
And of course the forged, faked or missing paperwork, probably particularly for horses who crossed state lines.
Oh I’m sure the health certificate that came with mine is fake!

then contact the FBI.
I hope the case of the horse who was bought twice was also reported to the FBI. It’s not the first time I have heard them do that, I think it happened through COTH a few times too.
When, when, when are they going to shut her down?

Oh, and also according to Christy, she’s just “coon-footed”…no, wait, in the video, Christy then says this mare is “slew-footed”. Good Lord. She’s totally clueless.
Here’s a still photo of that poor mare:

Oh God! Cantering down the gravel road with those fetlocks hitting the ground - I couldn’t watch any more.
I was involved with a telecommunications company being shut down by the state PUC ten or so years ago. Many people had been overcharged by this company that had coin telephones at mini marts and whatnot, the minimarts got a fee for letting them keep the booth there and most of the people who tried to use them and got charged five dollars for a basic call were immigrants, poor people, back then cell phones were an expensive item. The PUC was aware that there were problems but the victims were mostly not people that were stable and could be subpoena’d.
So I came along and I had a rare item, where I got a bill from the phone company and paid for all my coin calls at one time. I used this and got a bill for $103 dollars for a call that was said to have lasted over an hour.
I’m not the most organized person in the world but I do keep receipts and I could prove that I had purchased gas 15 miles away 20 minutes later and arrived at my work 45 minutes later. I complained to the PUC after getting some sh*t from the tele company, sent the entire disputed sum to the PUC to be held in escrow, as instructed, and by golly if the company wasn’t out of business within six months, which means that my case was the nail in the coffin - so PLEASE if you know or think that you got bad paper send it on. The more reputable individuals that are good record keepers and have multiple horses, have seen many copies of this kind of paper, that do this the more it weighs against the perpetrator.

I remember thinking something was peculiar about their ‘fundraising for’ and purchase available situation. It seemed that a number of horses were both fundraised for and bought.
The FBI is going to be spending a LOT of time on the Way Back Machine! Apparently all the ‘stuff’ posted on the Internet is out there somewhere.
Yep it doesn’t go away just because you hit delete.
