Ditto what Caryledee said!
I came home from a difficult day at work, tired and depressed. Then, I looked at this thread.
You guys rock! Keep us updated and let us know when the deal is done, and I’ll update the Listings. And, I’ll smile all the time I am doing it.
Just wanted to post this again in case anyone had any info… anyone know Hearty’s Lil Sis? A friend from my barn is interested in her…
I’m sorry, Sarah and Sam, I didn’t mean to let your post slip. Those of us who post here are volunteers for the Trainer’s Listings. We’re not, unfortunately, too familiar with the horses in the Adoption Barn. So, I’m afraid that I, at least, can’t tell you anything about Hearty’s Lil Sis.
That’s okay–thanks for responding! (:
Definitely the kind of updates we all like to see!
I called on Rock and Roll Roan today and am just waiting to hear back on a price! I hate waiting! Hopefully it will be reasonable, and he’ll be heading to me in MD soon!

Woo-hoo EquineLvr!!:yes::yes: Did you find a shipper?
CoolMeadows…that doesn’t even look like the same horse!! What a handsome dude![/QUOTE]
I have found a couple… but no one that is able to go soon…
Anyone able to foster them for a couple weeks until I can get the shipper there?
I will call Pat in the AM and make arrangements… I have not had a chance to call tonight as I have two young boys (the human kind ) that needed my attention tonight.
If anyone knows Pat tell him I will be calling to make an offer on both his horses.
Louie from Double L transport just e-mailed me with a quote and request for dates, and I only sent the quote request in a few hours ago. Have you tried them?

Nice! He is gorgeous and I bet will be one suuuper nice horse.
One of my other faves is Key Strategy. Sounds like he has a great temperament, which is high on my list. His eyes just melt me.

This is awesome - I will keep picking them out if people keep offering homes!
I’m only an hour away so it is soooo tempting to go scoop one up but my husband keeps me in check … and so does the board bill every month. I can’t wait until a few months from now when our barn is finished. It stinks that they won’t be racing once our place is done since I am definitely going to be sneaking them in and probably can give people a place to lay them over until shipping is arranged.
I’m so thrilled to see some of the Finger Lakes lovelies finding new homes. For all that are working with the trainers, may it go well for you and may your new ponies get to you quickly. What a great Thanksgiving for the horses, owners-to-be, and the trainers!
I just posted in the trailer-pooling thread, but if anyone is looking to ship out, I am making arrangements to ship along I-80/90 to Michigan, if anyone’s heading that way and could haul or wants to share a ride from Finger Lakes, PM me! The trainer I’m buying from isn’t leaving until the last day (ten days after the meet ends) so he’s not in a HUGE rush but I’d rather ship sooner than later.

Dunno if this would be an option, but the shipper I posted about earlier in the thread hooks up with a woman from the west coast sometimes. So he will go halfway and meet her and she will finish the run.
Also has anyone tried UShip? Yeah I know hit or miss but there can be some good options…
I posted on Uship, one bid so far, but I’m leery about using shippers who don’t have the DOT #. Also the one bid so far has some “positive” reviews that are actually less than stellar.
THEY ARE SAFE!!! Just talked to Pat… Western Buff and Rocky have homes with me!!
Pat did say someone wanted to look at the filly tonight - but if they dont take her she will come home with me!
Now I just have to find them a ride.
Louise: Do you know anywhere I can keep them until I find a shipper? PM if you want.
For anyone still on the fence…I had a great experience with my FL mare this time last year. Purchased only from a picture and 2 phone calls to her trainer.
The hardest thing for me was the shipping. It was going to be a week before anyone, even the shipper the trainer recommended would be back in that area and headed south. He did have a friend who had a place off the track she could hang out though, so in the end it worked out.
I would say to call on several shippers…the one who came recommended from this board and by the trainer had a good price, but needed to take her all the way to Ocala and I would have to make the 7 hour drive to get her from there…I was willing to meet him at the I20/I95 junction which would have been a couple hours closer for me and meant he didnt have to stable her while I made my way south, but he was unwilling to drop the price, which, just left a bad taste in my mouth.
I did finally find one who could get her within 2 hours of me, but it was a lot of phone calls…so dont give up on the shipping…I would really recommend trying to network via CoTH and others getting horses that may be headed in your general direction…that seems to have worked out for a bunch of people and it sounds like it could save a bunch of $$$. I really think the shippers tend to want to charge you more if you are a last minute trip, especially if they all ready have a full trailer.
Overall it was a great experience and the horse was just as advertised. Shipping was the most stressful and hardest part to get accomplished in the short amount of time you have to deal with.
That’s great news!!! You know we will be demanding photos as soon as they arrive at your place, right??
Did you ask the trainer if he knew of any farms that would board them for a couple of weeks?
Congratulations on your beautiful new horses! We need to start a FL Clique on COTH!!

Just a little worried about the filly since she is pretty thin… NY to CO is a long trip.
Yay! I have PM’d you with the name and numbers of a trainer who can take them until they can be transported, EquineLVR. He’s a good guy. Tell him that the filly is thin and see if you can arrange for extra hay.
Let’s pony up!
There are many, many diamonds in the rough here. Now is the time to act. You will not be disappointed with any horse from the Trainer’s Listings. Call the trainers and make an offer and you may be pleasantly surprised!
These are quality horses with tons of potential. Step up and you can tell the tale of the horse you got from FL and how he/she achieved greatness with your fostering and re-training. It’s all good!
