Finger Lake Race Track -- End of the Season -- Many New Homes -- Warmest Thanks

Congrats on bringing more of the FL beasties over to Colorado!!

We’ll have to get then together sometime! Just got done hacking my guy in the mountains for a couple of hours. He is a trooper although he was not quite sure about the 100+ cows surrounding us.

I went through Uship to get my guy here. Doesn’t hurt to put a quote in. You get the name of the shipping companies that quote back and can do background checks on them. I happened to find a hauler heading this way right when I needed it and he had good references and I was happy with them.

EquineLVR, please check your PMs!

And someone else on here has shipped with Double L–reliable?

Karakorum Patriot!!

This guy is the cat’s pajamas, the bees knees, the cream of the crop. He’s all that and more!

He’s been a war-horse with the sustainability of one. He’s earned a ton of money, usually finishes in the money and deserves a good life off the track. This guy likes his job and is a professional campaigner.

He has an ugly left knee but it doesn’t affect his soundness: he runs his arse off every time he’s entered, being the true war-horse he is.

I worked with him last year and I was wowed by him. He’s an amazing fellow with lots of miles left on him.

Step up, please!

So shipping with Double L on MONDAY!!

Danceronice: check you PM’s!

So dont need to warehouse them anywhere they can just come home!!

YAY!

Yay! I have PM’d you with the name and numbers of a trainer who can take them until they can be transported, EquineLVR. He’s a good guy. Tell him that the filly is thin and see if you can arrange for extra hay.[/QUOTE]

I did… talked to Louie and he said he would make sure she had hay 24/7.

I will call Louie in the morning, and the trainer, so hopefully Rocky and Western Buff will have some company at least as far as Michigan!

Now I KNOW someone out there really, really wants Karakorum Patriot, and I think there’s still room on the trailer…

Bumping for these horses!

Bumping again…what about Somewhereinbetween? She hasn’t been mentioned in a while and I think she is super cute!

Still waiting to hear back about a price on Rock and Roll Roan. I called again yesterday and left a message, but haven’t heard anything :frowning:

Western Union has been sent!! Louise please mark them as placed…

Overnight mail check is leaving in an hour…please mark Lucky to Cope placed.

CONGRATULATIONS Danceronice and EquineLVR…may you have many happy rides on your new beauties!!

Keeping my fingers crossed Spyglass…sometimes the trainers are hard to get a hold of.

Rockywithattitude, Western Buff and Lucky to Cope are now all officially listed as PLACED!

Congratulations to both danceronice and EquineLVR. May you both enjoy your Finger Lakes Finest for many years to come.

Spyglass, I can only echo what caryledee says, sometimes these trainers can be difficult to contact. Often, the best time is early evening, around 6 PM. Give it a shot then.

Now, let’s see if we can get Karokorum Patriot placed. While we haven’t heard anything definite about any urgency, the plain fact is that these older warriors can be hard to place.

Foundationmare knows the horse, and says he is special. Someone could get a real gem with this guy. He is older, but he has proven his soundness and worth many times over.

Now, he deserves a second career, where he can prove his worth once again.

Thank you to all who have been able to help rehome these wonderful horses! As you know, there’s a special place in my heart for OTTBs!

There’s a thread on the Hunter/Jumper forums about CANTER and FL horses and I’ve been pushing Karakorum Patriot there. The vet who did the PPE for Lucky to Cope even commented how if they’re older (my horse is 7) and still racing, chances are they are pretty darn sound.

FL Folks–even though I’m swearing up and down I’m not going to show, you have no idea how tempted I am if I DO try it to make his show name “FLF Lucky to Cope” (for Finger Lakes’s Finest!) There IS that series of TB shows down in VA, and I’m always up for a trip back to Lex…never had a chance to show at the VHC when I was going to school down there…

Thanks for having the trainer listings so I could finally get back into horses–I will post an update as soon as he arrives!

I absolutely LOVE Karakorum, and if I had a job I’d snap him up! I love them older; they’re wiser and I like wiser…but right now hubby would lock me in the basement and feed me bread ad water if I took one more. Gotta wait until spring when my rescued (on a whim) Arabian mare goes home…

Oh, Melelio, is there something WRONG with bread and water???

Karakorum Patriot is such a classy guy, been there, done that, nothing blows his cork. And he’s a big, solid boy, an athlete who loves to work and knows his job. He’s got many miles left on those wheels: they’re not called iron horses for nothin’!

Speaking of iron horses, did someone here snap up Geneva Cross? Hubba, hubba. He was my favorite.
