Any guesstimate about how tall he is? He is adorable!!
Who is arranging transport for Midnight Secret and Karakorum Patriot? I’m asking because I know of another mare who needs transport to Saratoga and would love to hitch a ride. Also, if possible in my schedule, I’d like to go along!
My original idea was that Missy might transport KP and could certainly take MS as well as she has a two horse trailer and does lots of shipping for KPs trainer. If there’s another avenue with more room, that would be great.
I find that I’m spending far fewer sleepless hours in the wee hours of the morning, worrying about the fates of some of these horses. BTW, another semi transport of horses left for PR today. I stopped to get a list of names at the stablegate but they hadn’t been given the info yet. I’m going to check tomorrow a.m. on my way to work to see if any of the Listings beasties were aboard.
I expect to hear about a lot of horses being moved today because there were a lot of rigs parked outside the stable gate late this morning. There are still lots and lots of beauties available. I didn’t realize that we don’t have pics of Chequer Cat, but he’s a gem. Pics on Saturday for sure, and please inquire about him if you visit the track, or e-mail me at foundationmare@yahoo.com. for info. There’s also a sweet, quiet companion horse with an ugly scar on his knee as the result of running through a fence when a youngster. His name is Napoleon Dynamite.
Somewhereinbetween is still waiting patiently, as well as Beau’s Tune, Noted New Yorker, Jo Cosmo…lots and lots of top quality animals!
Just have to reiterate that this thread, especially, and the many wonderful COTHers who have come forth so generously in monetary offers and wonderful words of encouragement as well as healthy doses of what COTHers do best…ENABLING…warms my heart.
Thanks to all of you, from the bottom of my heart. Who would have guessed that Midnight Secret and Karakorum Patriot would be living their lives out at Old Friends??? Beautiful!

YES!! OLD FRIENDS WILL TAKE HIM !!! I am calling the trainer right now - can he ship with KP??
Fantastic! You beat me to it. I haven’t had time to get near a phone!
Anyone who is still planning on buying/adopting this year, PLEASE don’t wait to call the trainers; tomorrow may be too late!!

I was at the track today (missed you msj!) and took a nice gal around to see a few.
We peeked at Clery’s Contender.

Darn, I am sorry I missed seeing you again.
But wow, was it busy with trailers coming and going!
Thank you MintHill Farm
Thank you Mint Hill Farm for getting Midnight Special into Our Friends!!!
I sent my thank you’s to KP’s connections.
Thank you to everyone here who has in any way helped the FL horses.

I know I’m currently in a DEADLOCK with my husband (unfortunately in this situation, he’s a horseperson too) over TAKE ME FLYING. He thinks buying him is retail suicide because he’s so small and I secretly agree but am totally in love with that little guys face (horse not husband (for now)).
CAN SOMEONE PRETTY, PRETTY PLEASE TAKE A STICK TO THE TRACK AND GIVE ME AN ACURATE HEIGHT ON TAKE ME FLYING?
I have a wooden measuring stick that I would gladly donate to FLTAP but I’d want to make sure that ONLY Louise, maunder and foundation mare had it and it never went near the Adoption Barn!
What about it gals, are you interested?
Now in order to get an accurate measurement you will need to stand the horse on concrete or the road. You do need to understand that a lot, if not all the horses aren’t going to be thrilled. So do consider that before you say yes that you’ll take it! If you’re great at eyeballing the height, then stick with that. I know that I’m almost 16.2 hands so that gives me a good idea of how tall a horse is.
Hey Sue, that would be great to have a stick! We have one trainer on the track who has one in his tack shed and we’ve used it occasionally on his horses. We’ve got a pretty good collective eye, but it would be wonderful to say “sticked at” to ease buyers’ concerns! Thank you so much for the offer and, frankly, I’d like to test my accuracy!
Thanks to all who have helped FLTAP with these horses!!
What’s PR???
PR is Puerto Rico
Up-at-5
Puerto Rico. It’s a one-way ticket. Blech!
Last year, as the horses at the racetrack in Puerto Rico dwindled, trainers/owners pooled their mutuel tickets to raise a pool of money to purchase money from the mainland. And, boy, did they buy horses! Today’s load is AT LEAST the third semi that has left the track with Puerto Rico-bound caballos.
In my dreams I would prefer to see them placed in homes where they have a chance to live out their days, but business does not usually consider the best dispensation for the horse. I put one miserable mare on the trailer myself last year and had a lump in my throat the entire time, apologizing to her like an idiot! I haven’t heard about her in a long time.
I simply can not believe Somewhereinbetween hasn’t found a home yet! She is just my type of horse, I adore her. Now if someone wants to buy her and ship her to NoVA I’d take her in a heart beat! Someone is going to get really lucky to have her.
I am really happy about all the horses getting great homes, but I keep checking to see who her lucky new owner will be. She is just awesome, someone has to get her!
Hey EquineLVR
Please contact Steve Nelson from Akron, New York. He ships all over, including south and west. His number if 716-308-4384.
Somewhereinbetweens trainer was very very nice, very obliging. Shipping can be arranged…go for it!!!
PR…right, I should have known that from following this thread.
PLEASE DON"T tell us which ones get on that truck…please don’t. My heart will break if I see the names of ones that I had to pass up.
Up at 5, I would love to, but I’ve taken in 9 this year, so my buying budget is gone. I do have the stall, time, space, and can do her retraining, just no money to get her or get her here.
So I keep hoping and checking that a lucky COTHer will get her so I can follow her progress. I just think she is one very nice filly! I have been telling everyone about her, and BG Lark (I used to gallop BG) and was beyond THRILLED to hear BG Lark is now in the adoption program. BG was one of my favs in the mornings, I really am happy for her and hope she also finds a great home!
Shipping Info and a Challenge!
Ok. I have a shipper who needs 2 more horses to fill up her second trailer. She’s coming up this weekend- I have Fisher Island on there and will have a second one to be determined.
Shipping to me in Louisville is $500 for first horse, half price for second one and any additional ones to my barn. She’s heading to TN after here and GA.
If anyone wants a spot we need to fill those two to get this to work and I will also offer to let your horse unload here and you can pick it up for me that way we could split the shipping across the board to me.
She’s willing to work with us so let me know who’s up for this!
If you want to email me its heidischmid@gmail.com or call me at 502-922-1460

Yes yes yes! He is truly a wonderful horseman and a great shipper.
Oh TurtleBayou! I wish I was buying! That’s a great deal on shipping! I’m in Lex, but heck, finding a ride from L’ville to Lex wouldn’t be hard. Dang it! I wish I was in a position where I could have a horse right now…!!! But I’m not… not with a new baby in the house! All my money goes to her and my dogs and cats… and obviously rent and bills! sigh one day…
