Finger Lake Race Track -- End of the Season -- Many New Homes -- Warmest Thanks

My original idea was that Missy might transport KP and could certainly take MS as well as she has a two horse trailer and does lots of shipping for KPs trainer. If there’s another avenue with more room, that would be great.”

FOUNDATIONMARE: Can Missy do this? It makes sense for the 2 of them to go together.
Highcliff Farm will pay for Midnight to go!

Please let me know so we can arrange! THANKS!

Ernie Applesauce?

No one has snapped up that cute little packer? There must be pony club kids out there somewhere who’d love the guy…

Missy is planning on taking KP and MS to Saratoga, so think that all is well there. Even if that falls through, they will find a ride to their new home.

Great! Will she make contact then with Old Friends? Do you need any phone numbers from me for the farm?

Missy can ship KP and MS next wednesday. I’m awaiting a confirmation.

Hey Sue, that would be great to have a stick! We have one trainer on the track who has one in his tack shed and we’ve used it occasionally on his horses. We’ve got a pretty good collective eye, but it would be wonderful to say “sticked at” to ease buyers’ concerns! Thank you so much for the offer and, frankly, I’d like to test my accuracy![/QUOTE]

foundationmare, maunder and louise - you have a PM!

I don’t want to sound like a grouch here, but I’d hate for everyone to bombard all these breeders for money or wanting them to take the horse back. Smaller TB breeders still have 25-30 foals per year… in 10 years that would be 250-300 horses- no one has the resources to take back all these horses after their track careers are over… and I’m sure while they may WANT to help the horses, it simply isn’t feesible… and what makes them be able to help one horse and not another? It would be a difficult decision. So
I guess since I work for a breeder, I have an idea of how their operations are run… and while they would feel bad declining helping a horse they had bred, it just might not be feesible for them to take on 1… let alone the 25-30 that they had bred that year…

I for one am really glad that with the internet we have more ability to contact people and also to persuade people to be a little more responsible for their animals. Of course, every breeder couldnt take care of every horse they’ve ever bred but maybe they could cut back a little on the breeding and spend the money instead on the horses that are already here.

I worked at a breeding farm in NY after college and it was kind of sad, in a way; most of the mares did not have much to recommend them, the babies didnt sell for much and I always questioned the ethics of the whole thing, where most of those horses would end up. Its definitely not a business for me.

I wish I had the means to adopt one of them right now. Maybe next year! I looked up Fisher Island’s record- wow, he was trained by Zito and placed in a MSW at Belmont in the summer and now to end up a freebie so fast. I remember KP- so glad he will have a home

I love Fisher Island. Love. He’s built like my white horse but colored like my red horse and he has the most adorable expression… sigh. Someone get him and keep me updated?!?

Edited to add… TurtleBayou’s got FI I think… HOORAY!!!

I sent out an email to several people about him and 2 people I didn’t know emailed me about him. So there is some interest out there for him.

EquineLVR!!

Hey,

Sent you pm with shipper info- the guy who hauled for me last week, I just got off the phone with him, he said to call him they do go your way.

I don’t remember him having anything wrong at the time, though I wasn’t looking at him as a prospect. He was pretty young when he was in the same barn where my friend worked. Whenever I’d go in the barn at night, he’d pop his head out to see who was there. I think he was only 2 or 3 then.

YAY Thank you!

lol
Got a thank you back from Richard Z.!!!

I feel so bad for the horses that did leave for PR. And foundationmare, I remember your recent post about that mare now in PR and not doing very well… I knew it was bad down there!

Bump

Lots of great horses still available and lots of help ready to get you to see them, pick one out and get it shipped!!!

I believe some of the trainers stay here for the winter so even though the track closes there’s a chance that some horses will still be in NYS. I’m sure that Louise, maunder and foundationmare could confirm this.

BUT that doesn’t mean anyone should wait to call on a horse they like.

KP and MS going to Old Friends

Mint Hill Farm, yes please to phone numbers. I want to make sure that everyone is on the same page and that they’re prepared for their new residents next Wednesday.

Missy has confirmed that she will ship the boys on Wednesday. Yay!

Might I give another plus, this time for two older mares, Another Sweetie and Me Me Anna. There was a chance that Me Me Anna was going to someone I know in Louisiana but so far he’s not getting a decent price for shipping. Anyone else? Both mares are free to good homes and both of good race records. According to the trainers, Me Me Anna has old ankles that are apparently set and do not cause lameness. Another Sweetie is stone-cold sound!

foundationmare, for Me Me Anna. Have you considered DM to Florida, then a shorter haul from there to Louisiana?

Me Me Anna reminds me so much in build of my daughter’s event horse when she was a young teen (although he was a gelding LOL).

That short back and neat neck make for a horse easy to balance and sit, perfect for a older child moving up from a pony/schoolmaster or an adult in the lower dressage or event levels.

With all her wins and her years, she has to be a sweet, tractable disposition.
Same with Another Sweetie, to stay racing they have to be well behaved. Another Sweetie has that classic TB mare look - even down tot he big Zenyatta ears!

And mares, when they are good, give you everything they have!!!

Good idea Louise. Dave is in Florida now (left yesterday) but he’ll be making the trip several more times (don’t know HOW he does it!).

Scratch my earlier post. Oscar has offered to ship the boys to Old Friends! Missy will be on back up if needed.

couldn’t find any pedigree info on Majestic Heart (there was one but he’s a NZ horse never raced in the US).

there was one other who’s name wasn’t found…can’t remember who it was.

anyone know this horse or trainer and could double check his name?
