Finger Lake Race Track -- End of the Season -- Many New Homes -- Warmest Thanks
ok guys, I convinced the husband to get Take Me Flying! He’s even calling Dave the trainer to organize picking him up on their way down to Ocala!

I’m buying him sight unseen with no ppe (for the first time) so please pray that everything goes well and his not too tiny tiny tiny.
Lucky you! He’s so adorable, I don’t think you can go wrong with him.
sure they should be in QT but whos to say that other horses on a shipment of horses havnt been quaranteened, etc.
I think what was meant was that kill pen and recently retrieved (from the kill pen) broker horses should be quarantined for 30 days due to their exposure to strangles.

We volunteers were given very good advice on this during a kill pen save and we were informed/instructed that any trailers shipping kill pen horses should be fully disinfected prior to other horses traveling in them.

Makes it more difficult for transport but it’s very important.

I’m very happy to see KP and Midnight Secret going to Old Friends here in Saratoga. The farm is only a few miles from my farm, soooo…any time anyone would like pictures of these warriors, let me know…I would be more than happy to visit and take some pictures.

foundationmare: you have a PM
Oh please go visit and take pictures and post them! Patriot likes carrots and is very much a gentleman taking them but he’s not so thrilled with peppermints. Could be they don’t taste good after carrots. But wait a little bit as Patriot needs some really good brushing and rubbing and the cellulitis and proud flesh on his leg needs time to heal.

I’m seriously hoping after the official opening Old Friends in NY on 7/22/2010 of driving up to see the farm and visit both horses. I might even see if I can con Louise and maunder and foundation mare also to come. I do believe there are several horses there already. By the time they officially open they will be filled to overflowing.

Great for the pony, but he should really be in QT if he was at a broker’s lot, not on a trailer with a healthy, up to date on his vax horse. Good luck!
Trinity:

Maybe you could give AC4H some money to QT him for a few weeks. Im sure they could; and i think they do it quite regularly but dont quote me on that. :)So happy all these guys have found homes!

My brother (who lives down in Westchester) and I keep talking about doing a vacation and meeting up in Saratoga…I’m thinking that next summer we really ought to see if we can pull it off and make a stop at Old Friends NY for a visit!

Saratoga road trip

msj - I would love to join you, louise, maunder and foundationmare on the Saratoga trip to Old Friends in July ( I am also a volunteer for FL Trainer Listings and did KP’s interview and photo). Maybe I can convince you guys to stop by my farm (north of Utica) and meet my Finger Lakes finest on the way! I would just love to see KP and MS in their retirement home.

Everyone keep shopping. Remember that there is a page 2 and a page 3 of the Finger Lakes Trainer Listings (you need to scroll down to the bottom of page 1, type in “2” and then click). I am sure many of the page 2 and 3’ers would make great stocking stuffers (o.k. that doesn’t look so good in print but you know what I mean).

has Redemption not found a home yet??

BA! My husband called about TAKE ME FLYING and he was sold! Bummed…hope he has a good home :frowning:

Sounds fantastic! I’ve known louise for quite a while and have met maunder and foundationmare recently. I wasn’t aware you also helped with the trainer’s listing so now I definitely HAVE to meet you as well.

If we can all arrange a few days, minimum probably 2, to drive up and see those 2 horses in Saratoga it would be great. Come summers is the only time I can get someone in to do my boys so it would work for me to definitely come up and see you’re Finger Lakes finest.

I spoke to Old Friends in NY several times this week. With Midnight and Patriot making the farm their home, they are now full.
Thunder Rumble was to arrive yesterday and the 2 boys today or tomorrow!

If anyone wishes to send a thank you email to Highcliff Farm for their efforts in helping to arrange shipping (this is where Key Contender stood, Midnight Secret’s sire) the email is:
highcliff@att.net
They were very concerned and immediately responded when I contacted them…

ugh that sucks. hoping the adorable guy got a fantastic home!

Yay

Thanks so much foundationmare. Many nice horses up at fingerlakes. Now I own a wonderful Red Tail’s Wish and an AMAZING Chequer Cat.

Redemption had some prospects last weekend, when we saw him. Hopefully, we can find out tomorrow if he has gone to a new home.

I sure hope so!!

Sorry!! There are so many other nice horses still available though. Didn’t you have a “short list??”

MintHillFarm, you are terrific! I most certainly will send them a thank you for arranging the shipping. It really is rewarding to see some in the industry caring.

Edited to add: email sent

mcorbett:

What about Sir Knight Shot???

I really like him. hes really well built and his legs, from the photos, look great. he is on the smaller side too, 15. 1, but he seems to be built a bit more on the thicker side. i think he has a great look to him

for $600, i really like this one too and hes 16.1:

i also fell in love with dan and John. Hes adorable but smaller than what you wanted!

I think this guy would look lovely all cleaned up with some weight, 16.2

probably my fav. horse in the bunch is still this guy. he has a wonderful look about him

My favorite is Jo Cosmo too. I love his look and it sounds like his personality rocks his pedigree is quit nice also. If I wasn’t so far away I would have him already. I am looking into the shipping and all of that but I need to convince my hubby first which is the hard part since with shipping his purchase price is much higher. I would love to hear any information from people that have purchased horses so far away (I live in WA)… I have never done this before and it is a bit scary and overwhelming but I have this feeling about him and I can’t shake it.

Jo Cosmo is a volunteer favorite for his lovely looks and sweet personality. He’s just a nice horse.

You should find out if the trainer is negotiable in the price! If you explain to him that you have to ship him that far, who knows…he might be willing to make you a deal! Also, post a shipment on Uship…you can get some bids this way and see if it would be feasible. Good luck with your husband!!
