I know. I want.

Sigh.

If Outskip is still available in the spring (ha!), maybe I can have her. sigh

Someone needs to get Musketeer for me!! lol If i wasnt heading to Oz i would seriously look at him!

Probably been through this before but is there any Canter or like program in Canada or the west coast?

P.

I don’t think he has ever run hard enough to hurt himself; he is still a maiden! I saw him in person when I was out there, and really liked him. I think he would be an easy horse to retrain.
I’ve got 4 OTTBs right now myself…more than I’ve ever had before. It’s not easy, but there are some really nice horses out there now and fewer people shopping. If you can open your heart (and pocketbook!) to one more horse, this is the time to do it.

Don’t know about Canada, but there is a CANTER California, and I have seen some really nice horses there!

If a rider in the morning says the horse is thier favorite, it usually is a VERY nice horse! I love to hear that. Sitting on 7-10 a morning can get old when you are on bouncing, happy, fit, young race horses, then you get to hop on The One who makes your morning so worth it, the one who is a dream to gallop and walk to and from the track, the one with a ton of personality. I galloped tiny filly like that at the Training Center, and she did come home with me. I actually cried I was so happy she got to come home, and she is even better in her retraining then she was galloping every morning!

BG Lark was one of those horses for me, she was a doll baby to tack up, so interested in what I was doing, so kind, so easy to gallop, and then we’d hack out. I ADORE this filly and really hope someone gets her! I also talked to the guy who rode her after I left that farm, he said the same things about her I did, so she impressed 2 people down here

If I was able to get another OTTB at this time, I would get BG Lark in a heartbeat, and Somewhereinbetween, she reminds me so much of my little filly!

Ok I will give the trainer a call tonight.

There are also two that I really like on Canter… But 5 horses is out of the question.

Just a bump for the older geldings

I just want to put in my plug for the older geldings. (I am not saying anything against mares, I just don’t own any.) I have 5 older geldings from FL that came off the track at ages ranging from 6 - 13 yrs. My favorites to work with are the 8+ year olds because they take everything in stride, have proven their soundness and iron constitution, and have an excellent work ethic. Just patiently teach him his new job and you have a keeper who will give you his heart and soul.

Good luck to everyone shopping and best of luck to all the horses who need new homes.

Speaking of older geldings, we have one on the listings that has been there for some time. Don’t overlook Dynomint, simply because he isn’t a baby any more.

This guy has been there, done that. His owner has been using him as a pony horse, so you know he is a good, solid and steady horse. I couldn’t get a really good picture of him, because he was so relaxed standing there. Someone really needs to call his owner and talk to her about this guy. That someone just might end up getting a real gem.

CGN, I totally agree with you and I DO include the mares as well! Lucky to Cope is a grand guy, a professional gentleman who will do whatever is asked of him and gratefully simple scritches in return for his hard work!

Equine LVR, I sent you a PM re: Rocky.

Please step up, people, if you’re able. I understand how hard it is to support a horse habit, but think of what a diamond in the rough you’ll be getting. Seriously, some of these FL horses go on to greatness!

This needs a bump up.

Update

Some of our beauties ran today. Super Diva won and Another Sweetie was right behind her! Cool, huh?! These older gals still have the wheels and work ethic to get the job done! Both of them are earners and can be considered for riding disciplines as well as broodmares.

Another Sweetie has already been a packer for kids and is, as her name suggests, a real sweetheart, indeed a trainer/owner/ex. rider favorite!

Little Jacob is stunningly well built:

Gerarda’s moon is stunning both as a prospect or a broodmare prospect. STUNNING!

Uh, he may be missing a set of gonads, but he’s still a he, not a she, and seven years old.

sigh And I think I am being told by the universe to just call on him. Now the trick is finding an immediate destination. My neighbor across the road is pasture only, with single-strand hot tape on most paddocks, not ideal…one of the local barns needs to have a stall for less than $300/month.
