Finger Lake Race Track -- End of the Season -- Many New Homes -- Warmest Thanks

The meet ends on December 5. However, an important thing to keep in mind is that many trainers leave before the end of the meet. They need to get these horses placed before they go.

So, if you’re thinking about any of Finger Lakes Finest, now is the time to act.

For those of you in the Ohio/Kentucky area, there will be a trailer leaving the first week in December, carrying Power of Music and Man of Motion to Turtle Bayou. She’s secured an excellent price for this trip. It’s a great opportunity to hop on and get that Finger Lakes horse to your home, at a reasonable rate.

Danceronice- He is gorgeous!! Nice hip and shoulder; I bet he is a terrific mover. I hope you get him!

Speaking of older geldings, we have one on the listings that has been there for some time. Don’t overlook Dynomint, simply because he isn’t a baby any more.

This guy has been there, done that. His owner has been using him as a pony horse, so you know he is a good, solid and steady horse. I couldn’t get a really good picture of him, because he was so relaxed standing there. Someone really needs to call his owner and talk to her about this guy. That someone just might end up getting a real gem.
I love that one! I came across his ad a month or two back. Can’t believe no one has snatched him up. It sounds like he’ll transition very easily to a new job. Going to pass it along to a few local friends who are looking…

Oh I’m so glad Turtle Bayou is taking Man of Motion.  Louise you know I always liked that guy and intentionally never went to see him because I knew he’d end up in my barn and I didn’t want another horse.

My congratulations to Turtle Bayou!

Working on sorting out a destination before I waste anyone’s time (like the trainer’s) calling.

In all seriousness, do you FL volunteers know the likelihood of Outskip’s trainer keeping her over the winter? I can get another horse in the spring.

Wanna ride from Central NY to CT?

I’m hauling from Ithaca, NY back to Deep River, CT on the Friday or Saturday after T-Day and I have room for one in my trailer next to my mellow gelding.

Anyone want the spot for the cost of fuel or so?

I don’t mind picking yours up at Finger Lakes, but it would need need to lay over for a night in Ithaca. Otherwise, I’m happy to make a detour to deliver yours where it needs to go, so long as your destination isn’t way out and beyond.

I’m not a pro hauler, but I drive like your grandmother with horses.

I’d recommend that you telephone him and talk to him directly about this. He’s a friendly man and I’m sure he’d answer your questions.

anyone coming West? I am looking at Rocky…but need to figure out how to get him to CO.

Hope lots of those fine steeds get a new home.
It’s been 1 year (monday) since my FL Thoroughbred was delivered to my front door in Colorado. Hauler said “yep, you DO live in the middle of nowhere - you weren’t kidding!”
Just got done hacking with Devil’s Whip aka Johnny aka Pilgrim (barn name he earned for being such a trooper after 5 days on the trailer from NY to here) thru the snow for a couple of hours. He sure is a fun ride!!

Anyone know if " Salt and Papal " is still avail? She’s lovely! If she’s avail, I wonder why she hasn’t been scooped up yet? Boy I wish I was able to take on a horse right now!

Hmmm, we haven’t seen Salt and Papal’s trainer in a while. That barn is early arrive, early depart. We’ll make sure to check on them first thing Saturday morning.

We’ll be double teaming again this Saturday. And, don’t forget that there are the two going to Kentucky the first week in December. It’d be really easy for someone in that area to hitch a ride.

I know a fantastic shipper who does runs in New England and regularly goes to Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Canada. He’s not far from FL and actually owns and races standardbreds.

If anyone is looking for a ride in those areas let me know and I’ll pass his contact info along. Very nice man, very good with the horses, and reasonable rates.

So many good looking beasties!
I wish I could take one on this year…

Are you taking about the guy in Akron/Newstead who also owns a feed store? If so, I’ll second, third, and fourth that. He’s a fantastic person and a great shipper.

Yep that’s him.

He moved my horse last night, with just a few hour’s notice, after doing a run to Kentucky the night before. And charged me next to nothing.

He’s moved horses for me quite a few times over the years and I’ve always liked him and the way he handles them. He’s highly reliable too which seems to be hard to find…

CGN, I totally agree with you and I DO include the mares as well! Lucky to Cope is a grand guy, a professional gentleman who will do whatever is asked of him and gratefully simple scritches in return for his hard work!

Equine LVR, I sent you a PM re: Rocky.

Please step up, people, if you’re able. I understand how hard it is to support a horse habit, but think of what a diamond in the rough you’ll be getting. Seriously, some of these FL horses go on to greatness!
FM - any word on Rocky?

I have a wonderful FL TB. I found the trainers to be very helpful with their evaluation of their horses. I would love to take in another friend, but last week I had a trainer call and ask if I wanted to take one with a bow (did it in his last start) and I said yes! (sweetest horse ever, fingers crossed) Good luck to everyone- retired racehorses are a worthwhile project!

anyone seen Michaels Vow or have any thoughts on him as a sport horse stallion prospect?

Yup, he hauled for me the morning after I called, and also charged next to nothing. He’s an excellent horseman and knows how to work with them. Can’t say enough good things about him .
