Finger Lake Race Track -- End of the Season -- Many New Homes -- Warmest Thanks

It’s hairy out there! And the conditions change within miles. It’s a typical lake effect snow day here in New York.

I’m hoping for the best for all you travelers!!

On my way to galloping this AM the shipper called me and really didn’t give me a reason, the truck broke, a load went yesterday instead without our horses…I don’t know what’s really going on, BUT Foundationmare now has Somewhere and Stellaspeed’s 3 and taking care of them at the track. Which is closing in less then 24 hours!

We are all calling around, trying to find shippers. I’m hoping for some good news soon. This really stinks, I spoke to the shipper yesterday afternoon, all was fine. I was told they would be in Warrenton VA between 4-6 tonight and it would be $250/horse. Then a 8:30 this morning he calls and says he’s not coming anymore. Uggggg!

USHIP ride found with hauler RAY AUL any feedback ?

Will be able to pick the horses up tonight and have them in Warrenton by morning for $275 a horse. Says they are also hauling from Fingerlakes to Mass on Monday or Tuesday.

ISHI and Stellaspeed - I can not imagine how nerve racking this is for you. YIKES! I do hope this new hauler will be able to get your horses to you. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Yippee! Lots of phone calls later (starting with the one really dismaying one first thing this morning), we have a ride to VA tonight. It was frustrating for me because I was away from the computer all morning and felt a bit helpless, not to mention talking on the phone while wrangling frisky horses.

Thanks, Nancy, for getting this done! I will call you when I see that van pulling out of the grounds!

OTTB Board/Lay Ups

I responded to a request for boarding an OTTB for someone on here and wanted to offer this to anyone else who is in need of somewhere to board their horse for any amount of time. I am hoping that this will encourage people who are interested in adopting a Finger Lakes TB or any other horse that needs rescuing, but may not have anywhere immediately to put them! My filly from the Finger Lakes and my other ex-racer from Penn National will be there too

We are located in the Binghamton, NY area and can accommodate a few more horses - there are about 10 more box stalls available - and 13 turn out paddocks - lots of room for the rescued TB’s who have a special places in our hearts. It is not a public barn, just a hobby of ours that we want to share with horses that need some TLC. Please PM me if you are interested in details or have any questions.

Thank you

I’ve decided Somewhere was either not meant to come to VA OR she was really meant to be with me  It has been nerve racking for sure but, in the end, it’ll all be worth it!

Foundation, I felt so badly too, I got the call when I was driving to the steeplechase barn this AM. I was floored when he said they just were not going to ship the horses. Then Stellaspeed called and I felt a little better, she was on it, but hated that I was stuck away from the phone and computer while galloping. ALL I could think about is the horses and how badly I felt that you were up there, all alone with them!

I wonder if Somewhere, the little filly, Devilshire, and With Spirit have any idea what’s been going on, or are they happily munching hay at Foundationmare’s barn, content and warm

Thank you Stellaspeed for finding this shipper and hopefully I’ll see you in the morning!

Thank God a shipper has been found!! I’m sure everyone will breathe a sigh of relief, no one bigger than ISHI and Stellaspeed, when the horses arrive in VA tomorrow.

ISHI - I like to believe that Somewhere was really meant to be yours  And I’m sure they are all happily munching hay, oblivious to all that’s going on in the human world. (Wish it could be so for me sometimes :lol:)

Careful!!!

I haven’t heard a fat lady singing yet, so let’s keep our fingers crossed !

It’s a good thing I don’t bite my fingernails - though I might start soon! I can’t imagine being in your boots trying to get this all sorted out

Thank you cgh, I’m hoping she was meant to be here too! I do bite my nails, or used too. After this week, they are all gone  I think I probably had the least amount of stress out of all of us though. I’m usually way from the computer or phone, so Stellaspeed has been doing all the foot work, and Foundationmare is on the ground there and taking care of all on that end. I’m just going to be here when they all arrive tomorrow AM and getting stalls ready for them.

I can’t wait, only one more sleepless night! The next call I get from a shipper I hope will be, “We’ll be there in an hour.” NOT “Sorry, we didn’t pick up your horses this morning and aren’t going to.” Stella, I’m still crossing everything until all 4 get here and unload safely!

I just want to meet her, I’m so jealous of everyone who already has.

Are there any desperate cases left needing homes or are all the FInger Lakes horses safe for now?

I heart Dynomint

I wish we had this service at the racetrack in Colorado. There was supposed to be a CANTER starting up, but it never made it :frowning:

Two Full Pockets(nice horse) may or may not be coming with us. His international papers are not ready.:frowning:

FatDinah, PM Foundationmare, she would know best who is still up there and needs to be moved ASAP. I bet she’ll be glad come Sunday and everyone is out and tucked into their new homes. I hope she gets a day off!

Yes, I should have waited as I am sure one those great gals will post us a final tally.
It has been wonderful watching from afar to see so many deserving people and horses find one another.
Now I just hope you guys can either batten down and wait to ship or squeak out of there.

It’s hard for me to pick the most concerning out of those still left. I’d love to see MeMe Anna go to a great home. Another hard knocker who has earned a comfortable retirement.http://www.pedigreequery.com/?query_type=horse
