Foal Watch 2024

It seems impossible looking at her but we are still waiting!

We are 346. We have been running milk and testing pH at 6 for multiple days now. Last night was night 5 of foal watch. Last night she was unsettled all night. I thought for sure we would go…… but alas we are still waiting. My sweet husband has been so helpful on camera watch duties but we are both suffering from lack of sleep and praying the blessed event happens soon.

No major update on Fuego, he’s just eating and growing lots! Front legs look great (his feet are still a little funny but the new hoof growing in is good). Left hind is the only one that still needs some work but it’s coming around.

Our other mare is 330 days so we are praying all goes smoothly there! We are riding two of her colts and they’re amazing so we’re looking forward to another.

Fuego looks amazing! I can’t believe how far he has come so quickly. That’s a testament to the care he has been receiving.

What a difference in Fuego! He’s really coming along nicely.

What a cutie and wow what an incredible improvement on those fronts! :star_struck:

Just a cute foal picture while I’m waiting for everyone else’s mares to foal.

The colt on the left is our guy, Hawking, now 6 weeks old.

Way to go, little guy! You’re looking terrific!

As for you girls teasing your peeps out of sleep, could you not? I mean, don’t rush things if they aren’t ready, but don’t pretend they are.

Any progress?

How about yours @weixiao?

@Fuego1, I know it has only been two days since our last photo update, but, can I please have more adorable Fuego photos?

Nope. We literally have ALL the signs of impending labor. And have had for 6 days now. She got uncomfortable last night. And today during the day. But tonight she looks very comfortable. I’m so confused. And so tired.

Oh , I’ve been there. Not with my mare, I’m not a breeder, but when spelling a breeder on foal watch.

You just know that if you close your eyes she’ll foal and need help. My insomnia used to be very helpful for foal watch and for night check at shows.

I wish I lived close and could give you some watch relief, though I ain’t what I used to be…

Here’s hoping for an easy and uncomplicated foaling. :hugs:

Yep. That sums up where we’re at too. Maiden mare, so I didn’t know exactly what to expect from her but even still I really can’t believe it hasn’t happened yet. I think the foal is waiting for April Fool’s day now.

Sympathy, and wish I could spot you all for a few nights.

FINALLY!!! At 350 days, 1.30 am a beautiful colt born with the longest legs I’ve ever seen. Everything so far looking good. He’s been up and looking for the milk just sitting in the tackroom waiting for him to latch on before I go catch a nap. Thank you all for your well wishes

Great news! :+1:

Congratulations, @grzywinskia! Can’t wait to see pictures of the little guy. Enjoy your well-deserved nap first, though.

Terrific! I think his name should be At Long Last  Get some rest and share pics with his COTH aunties when you can. Can’t wait to see him!
