Foal Watch 2024

Thank you.

Jingles and prayers, @LaurieB! Hopefully she just wants to make sure the baby is perfect before his or her appearance.

18 days until Hop is at 320 days. DH has been flip flopping on who we are going to breed her back to. We have a lifetime breeding right, but the runners by that stallion have been really disappointing. We got offered a foal share on a very nice stallion, but we are breed to race, not for the sales. Lots of decisions to be made!

Hang in there, @LaurieB! The filly on that bag image was born as 379 days, while all four of the mare’s other foals were born between 335 and 339 days.

My mare is 305 today to Chacco Blue II. She has gone 335 the last two pregnancies so finally in the countdown stage. So excited and happy with how she’s looking and feeling at this stage of her pregnancy

Update on Fuego- he is doing very well being at home. He’s a great eater and is pretty dang halter broke for 6 weeks old since he gets a couple short walks every day. We are playing with some different things for his legs including glue-on cuffs. Here’s a photo of him meeting his sister (they have the same sire, same big blaze and slightly wild eyes )

From time to time, questions pop up about camera options for barns that don’t have WiFi. Well, I bought this baby monitor on Amazon for ~$60 back at the beginning of 2021. It has been hanging in the barn ever since, and it hasn’t been plugged in since Addy was born in June 2022. I decided to plug it in today for a test, fully expecting it to be dead and planning to have to replace it before I start foal watch on Sydney. Much to my surprise:

This little thing has turned out to be well worth the money!

What is the range on that monitor? Sounds like it might be a good option!
