My favorite picture is posted way before this. It’s schooling at home and something I’ll not be able to replicate due to my health problems. Does anyone know any way to fancy it up… as in clean up my attire and the background? Thank you!
I don’t know how I missed this thread the first time around. Everyone’s pictures are wonderful!
This is my favorite picture of my childhood pony. I got her when she was three, and thanks to a wonderful trainer we were able to do more things than I’d ever dreamed possible. (pic from 1967)
After graduating from high school, I didn’t have the opportunity to ride again for 25+ years. After so much time, I had no idea if I’d ever be able to regain even a semblance of my earlier skills. Again, I was very fortunate to find just the right trainer and horse. (Thoroughbred “Tess”)
Now that I’m no longer riding, I get to hang out with out with our racehorses. (All Aces)
Dang, girl!
Is this pony jumping a fence higher than it could look over when standing?!
She was a large pony, 14.0 1/4 (I still have her measurement card. ). The jump was a 3’3" post-and-rail. It wasn’t as high as the wings you can see on either side. She was just 4 years old, and being indoors for only the second time (after Harrisburg) definitely put some oomph in her jump.
The picture is from the last year the National Horse Show was held in the “old Garden”. Because there were so many entries, it was decided that hunters would need to qualify by winning a blue ribbon at an A show (of which there weren’t that many.) That didn’t help enough, so they raised the entry fees ($100 for the classes, $100 for the stalls). There was still an overflow of entries so they raised the jumps for large ponies to 3’3" and for smalls to 2’9". The following year, the National Horse Show moved to the new Garden and pony classes were eliminated entirely (until much later).
I have some new ones to show off. I started getting my baby out during the second half of the season. We did a few hunter paces and her first jumper show. She rocked every single one of them! This is the daughter of my black TB mare - she’s 5yo, all of 15h, and built like a brickhouse.
1965 age 17, riding a game schoolie back when we galloped around outside courses. I realize the saddle isn’t a good fit, but even if I had known more about saddle fit at the time, I wouldn’t have been able to do anything about it.
Leg Goals.
Have you considered having this photo restored, with “Proof” removed and color enhanced? People on Reddit do it for a small fee. Your hand is so lovely here.
Thank you! I would love to have it restored. I’m not on Reddit. Is it possible to point me to someone who could do it?
So bittersweet! He’s a beautiful boy!
Thank you. A lot of his pics are bittersweet as he was probably laid up more time than he was ridable. But, he taught me to love again after the loss of a previous heart horse and I am 100% certain that is why God sent him to me. He was very special.
I can 100% relate to the “unrideable more than rideable” with mine from the photo as well. It is a tough thing to go through. All of the other parts made up for it though!
@ZuzusPetals, I have an outstanding photo of my beloved horse that I will never be able to repeat due to my health problems. Does anyone know who/how to photoshop it to clean up the background, etc? Thank you!
not doing anything spectacular here but I love this pic. I picked up this senior tb as a pity purchase cause he was a bone rack and it turned out he was a cross country schoolmaster. We only did 2’6 derbies cause of his age but he was just so damn happy out there.
Go to Reddit and search PhotoshopRequest, then follow instructions. Typically, users post a photo and state what they’d like done. Then others will do what you ask and post the results. If you like, you tip them.

I remember that, and we were very disappointed. I was never in any position to ride at the Garden, but we went in (on the commuter train) every year to watch. We particularly enjoyed watching the pony classes.
Tough memories. At the time we thought these institutions within our sport would last forever. That we’d always be the excited kid watching and yearning to compete there ourselves.
