Haltertags.com order time

Has anyone had an issue with haltertags.com taking forever? I have placed orders with them in the past and had orders take 1-2 months. When I emailed to follow up on my order, I was told a family emergency was creating a delay. Afterwards my order was sent out right away. This has happened twice in the last 3 years. I placed another order a month ago and still haven’t received my tags, and haven’t heard back via email. I am really disappointed because I think their tags are great, but I don’t want to wait 8 weeks any time I want a halter plate. Has this been an issue for anybody else? Is there anywhere else that has tags of similar quality that doesn’t take forever?

I had the same issue a few months ago. Big delay (at least 6 weeks) finally called and got an apology and the tags (same great quality) in a few days.

Yes, I had the same issue. Oddly enough when you buy via ebay auction they come much quicker.

I would guess it is because their rating would be horrible if eBay orders took 8 weeks to arrive!

I had two orders that seemed to be taking a while longer than previous orders a month or so ago. I emailed them and asked when they would arrive. They responded promptly and shipped my order out immediately. They said to let them know if I needed the tags done and shipped quickly on my next order. They’re usually awesome, I’ve ordered many tags from them. Email or call and they will get them out right away.

Interesting as I had that exact same experience when I last ordered, and that had to be at least two years ago. Must have a lot of family emergencies!

I want to get another plate to match the ones that I have, so maybe I’ll check out their eBay listings if, as reported here, that doesn’t have the delays.

Wow. At my tack shop, we order our nameplates on Monday mornings and usually get them by Friday the same week. Following Monday at the latest. They should never take 2 months (or 6 weeks)

This post is right on time. I forgot the name of the company I ordered from last Christmas and was looking at their ebay listing, I think it was them!

They cut it super close on me last year, but I did get them in time for Christmas. Very nice quality, not like the “scratches” that pass for engraving at some places.

Something about saddle plates, halter tags, etc that I love. Not super expensive but the extra effort behind a nicely engraved plate makes it classic & elegant. I love how our saddle plates look and cant wait to get the brass plate made for the leather halter Townes’ is getting for Christmas.

Same here. I ordered, they were still “pending” (so not even started or anything) or something like that 3 weeks later, so I emailed them and told them to cancel the order. They apologized and sent the tags out the next day. Their excuse was that it was a busy time for the thoroughbred industry and they were busier than usual.

Same for me the last time I ordered from Haltertags.com, so February 2015. I placed the order from their site directly and while I noted the price(s) had increased, it only a little over what I had considered an insanely low price for such great quality tags a year or two before and still considered it a great deal. I was a little annoyed with the “new” shipping/handling fee on what had always been “free” in the past…both of which each made the item(s) more expensive. But still happy to pay it for the quality and fast shipping on past orders.

I got distracted, but was very surprised when I hadn’t received my tags after 6+ weeks after it was placed and no communication from them, either. I honestly thought I had missed them in the mail somehow? I emailed halter tags and got a very apologetic reply, citing snow/weather supply issues, and a promise to get my tags out ASAP. And I did receive them 1 week after that and was very happy with them, same great quality as aways, but ??? I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought it was a one-off, but now I surely wonder…

ETA: If I order from them again, I will make sure to do it on eBay unless their is a significant price difference that honestly would likely make me consider another company, anyway. The shipping/delivery time and customer feedback is closely monitored there and as a seller, I KNOW this sort of performance would not be tolerated on eBay!!!

Thank you everyone for your input. I am sad to hear that this is a common issue, because like I said I love their product. But 8 weeks is a long time to wait… It didn’t even take that long for my saddle to come, so I don’t think I should have to wait that long for a brass tag. I have emailed them and will update when I receive the tags.

Same here, took forever, but the items are great so I’d order from them again even with the delay.

They outlast every other company hands down, though I have not tried Quillian halters- which also engraves as deeply as Haltertags does from what I can tell!

I keep ordering from them even though I HATE the wait. Usually my order doesn’t arrive until I send an E-mail. They’re busy for the holidays, or year-end awards, or family emergencies, or blah blah blah. I will go through their eBay auctions if the item I want is listed, but last time we inherited a dog who needed a new tag as his owner died and the phone number was no longer valid… The tag I wanted wasn’t listed on eBay so I ordered on the site. I waited about two or three weeks and finally E-mailed telling them what happened. They shipped the tag within the next few days. They tell me (every time) to put in the notes if I need something by a certain date for a show or gift or whatever… but it is a little deflating to have to always follow up to get my order.

If you look up pet tags on Ebay you’ll find lots of other options.

Quillin plates are engraved as deeply - very nice quality, maybe a little better than the haltertags ones, IMO.

Update: I received an email back from haltertags staff. My order shipped earlier this week and should arrive tomorrow. I had placed one order 5 weeks ago and one 2 weeks ago, so we will see if both or just the first arrive. Like I said, love the product but hate the wait!

I also LOVE their tags, but they have been very slow in my experience, also. They did send me a free nameplate when my horse lost his off his halter, though! I thought that was a nice thing of them to do.

No doubt their turn around is unpredictable. However, they are a great quality plate at a great price. I was waiting (weeks) for a bunch of plates and emailed them and they promptly replied they were a small Mom & Pop shop and had been moving. They apologized for the delay and offered a free plate. I have ordered several more times from them and I found that if, in the comments section, you indicate your “need by” date, you will have them. They are worth the wait, IMO.

I ordered from them and the print was crooked and the plates unusable (5 of em)- The response to my email was rude and “tough luck”- Finally, the plates had nail holes instead of screw holes so were useless anyway

I’ve never heard about issues with their QUALITY or about the responses to inquiries. Which manner of attachment did you specify? They have several options in the drop down menu for hardware, and you do need to select one when ordering.

Haltertags.com sent extra tags with my most recent order, and has done so before when I had more than a couple of tags ordered. Their prices are much better than anywhere else, too. I’ll still use them. I prefer to support smaller, US businesses like Haltertags.com and Quillin.com.
