Has anyone else started reading the book “Off Course” that was just written and released about the USEF?

In before the lock…

I just want to be cool and post on a thread before it gets shut down because I always miss the trainwrecks.

OP, you are going to make “Judy” really mad at you for exposing her has an elitist, racist, stepford wife, white woman who does not want to compete against BIPOC and LGBTQIA in the hunter ring.

Yes please. That would be amazing.

The vanderbilts started the first organization of the sport in the U.S. and FOR SURE had slaves. Maybe go read about Cornelius.

Oh darling. Just because you had the money to turn what is already a sport into your official & exclusive playground with special silver trophies does not mean you get origin credit.

Well, Megan has a Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration from Texas Southern, and as of last year, her net worth was about $30 million. I’d say she can pretty much do whatever she wants.

I’m sure she’s more educated than the author of this book, at any rate. Beyond that, the lyrics of her music really have nothing to do with the argument at hand . . . whatever that argument is.

Actually . . . no . . . as others have pointed out, this sport (whichever one you’re talking about - showjumping? Eventing? H/J? Dressage? - were mostly begun by the military as a way to train horses for the battlefield.

You know, the number one rule of writing a book is ‘do your research.’ I think you skipped that rule.

Not competing against LGBTQIA in the H/J rings??? Not likely.

There seems to be only one person on FB promoting this book, and that person does have a number of industry names on their friends list. Coincidentally.

Yeah, that was a whole “BUT OF COURSE” moment when I saw who was pushing it

So, I guess we have two mutuals because the one mutual we have on each of the (found) profiles is different, and on one of them it is said water carrier.

So the USA Paradressage team just became a formal USEF affiliate. Definitely DEI. Definitely preferential treatment of disabled riders.

But also the ONLY gold medals in the last few years. And very, very white so maybe that makes it okay. /s

I don’t feel the need to comment on most of this thread.

But I will just chime in to say that I met a person working at a horse show last week who probably would not have been there without DEI efforts from the USEF.

And the person did a good job, which to my mind is the most important thing.

Carry on if you must.

She also hates anyone not cis & straight.

Methinks “Judy” didn’t make it in legitimate journalism because she’s a shite writer who cannot research or distinguish between fact and opinion. DEI and “political correctness” had nothing to do with it.

OMG what in the trash heap did I just read?
Seriously who comes up with drivel like this? I also will not be wasting a penny on this one

Maybe Judy used the same “3 editor’s” (sic) as Nick.

Also weirdly coincidental, but the same person promoting this book on other social media platforms was a licensed steward and judge whose license was suspended by USEF for “improper social media posts and comments relating to the organization’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and related offensive emails she sent to various organization officials.”

“After Word” in the TOC reveals a lack of uh, editorial prowess :joy:

Oh indeed. I very much remember her posts and comments so was not at all coincidental to me.

I suspect, given that that is seemingly her only industry champion, that she met a fellow “horse girl” through some alt-right associations and that is how they’re actually connected.

It was only a matter of time, but it’s starting to hit FB proper. Expect some wild [edit] to come out of the woodwork in defense.

You mean like a summer reading book club?

We’d have to keep in mind that Maestro’s mishmash of paranoia and sheer delusion was laughable. This one, although seemingly just as poorly organized and edited, might have the effect of making us angry and disgusted at the page by page spewing of ugliness.

They’ve been wailing that LGBTQ+ is a gateway to affirmation of pedophilia or bestiality for decades. It’s that ol’ slippery slope fallacy.
