OK, looked at the sheet and it is an 82. I originally thought it was a turn-out, but it just says “poly horse sheet” or something like that, so i don’t think it is (it came with my boy when he made the trek down here from Chicago). If you need/want it, let me know and I will send it.

Just saw this thread…if she needs to be trailered earlier, I can do it Tues mid morning, Wed mid morning, or between 9 am -1 pm on Thurs or Friday. I only live 30 min away from Opal, but need to factor in being back home in time to meet my son’ s bus.[/QUOTE]
AWESOME!!!
I highly suggest you PM alittlegray and/or Liberty. They seem to have pretty open schedules, and I know alg has emailed the seller of the mare. She is checking out the mare’s potential home tomorrow, so maybe y’all can arrange something tomorrow afternoon!!
Just an FYI - the tattoo probably isnt readable. I rescued a presumed 7 year old OTTB and two different vets couldn’t read it. They said its common as the horses get older.
I have an 82" sheet and medium weight blanket available for donation for Her Royal Highness if needed.
Oh great! Well I have not heard from the seller. I did email her. But I hope alittlegray did hear from her. TimelyImpulse, maybe you could email Liberty or one of th other cothers who offered to ride shotgun? Mare may be hard to load or the people there might be out of Deliverance.
Oh whoever goes to get her, if she’s still around, make sure you get a bill of sale from the actual owner. The ad (thanks for sending me the link) says granddau has listed horse belonging to her grandmother. So bill of sale from the owner grandmother is what we need.
Hard to read tattoo, LOL. When I bought Callie, the BO’s husband and I kept looking and looking, and then I’d email the JC and the nice lady there would tell me no, but finally, between the lady looking and us reading, we found out that my mare was 18 yoa and “Kick and Howl.” So tattoos can be read, if you keep working with JC. We did the light thing, and everything else.
OK I have to go to barn in a little while to work with my 2, so I’m going to scan the thread to see if it’s time to send $ to alittlegray or someone else. I hope Liberty is going to either the farm or to help with the horse as she has been very helpful.
BTW, this is why I try to stay off of craigslist! Altho I sometimes scan, looking for that old standardbred my former BO sold off to a bad place for $100.
ETA Callie was 16 hands but wore a size 74-75 rug, so it depends on the horse. Heck my 16.2+ Hessen wears a 78 portly. So great that there is a range of rugs available.
Just found & scanned over this thread. Add me to the list - will thrown in $20 to the fund. Does it have to be Paypal? My account has been down for years since someone hacked it, and have never been able to get it straightened out. Be glad to send a check. What a lovely effort by so many.
Yup, never say never on tattoos. USTA was able to positively identify my 32 year old STB mare with her easy to read tattoo. I never could find her online because she was before electronic records, but someone fabulous in records sent me a copy of the microfiche records on her. Being a chestnut, this grand girl may be easier to read then anticipated too. Its the darker colors that tend to mottle under the lip and obscure the tattoos. Jingling luck for this operation to go off with complete success!
So far no luck getting an email back from the seller. If she got deluged with ugly emails she may be reluctant at this point to write back. I will try again today and see if I can establish contact with her.
I will go take a look at the potential new home this morning just in case, and keep trying the seller.
It’s amazing what the COTH can pull together quickly! Well done, everyone!
Alittlegrey, you might try sending an email with the following in the subject line, “Will Buy Your Mare Today - Good Local Home” or something similar. It might help you break through the other emails and will certainly catch her attention.
It looks like they updated the ad and are no longer asking for any money for her? I can’t go on CL on my work computer but that’s what it looks like on my droid.

Yep, I just checked it, and they are no longer asking anything for her. Man, we’ve GOT to get through to the owner and get this dear mare safe! I’d contact her myself, but I don’t want to add to the possible deluge of emails she may be getting.
Standing by to help any way I can. I am ready to meet up with whoever is going to pick her up if that person wants/needs the assistance.
Although an old mare like that is probably not worth much to the kill buyer, there are plenty of opportunists that would want the $50 at the sale – hope you guys can get her quickly!
You may want to post a CL ad back to her with her title in the ad.
I have had problems with my CL ad responses going to my spam. The CL poster may not be getting your offers if they aren’t checking their spam.
The good news is that BluenGray’s farm is GORGEOUS. No, not a “pretty show barn”. But if I was an old mare I’d want to retire there! Lovely pastures, great fence, pond, trees, cool shady stalls, and several other retirees to be buddies. All her horses are in good weight and sleek and soft. It was a slice of heaven on earth! Not to mention that she is a really nice person, and the first COTHer I’ve actually “met” knowingly, lol!
The bad news is still no contact from mare owner. I will try posting a response on craigslist to see if that works.
