OK I emailed to see if mare is still extant. So if so, I vote that we all send our $ to alittlegrey and ask everyone who can help move the mare to get together via PMs and decide who is going to get her and when.
If alttlegrey will go visit Bluengrey (if I got that right?) and then go with someone to pay for mare and get a bill of sale, then we’ll need someone to move pretty quickly to pick her up.
Fun for you in VA. Cloudy and Hattie are going to have to pay for some lunches up there.
I still see the ad on craigslist. I have emailed the seller and also pm’d the COTHER who has offered to provide her a home. If anyone else hears from the seller, please speak up

Alittlegray has contacted the mare’s owner and will do the farm visit to BNG tomorrow morning.
Once that’s done, either Carolprudm or Kimball will pick up the mare with Liberty’s assistance.
Kimball, would you be available to pick up the mare before Saturday? If so, I think that’s the way to go. In that case, can you or Liberty handle the transaction with the mare’s owner?

I hope they know that you are interested in the mare and that she is still there. Did anyone check today? It would be so heartbreaking if she was gone to ??? I still do not think that anyone paying $100 for an old mare would have necessarily the best intentions. I hope, but…

Alittlegrey emailed the owner and so did I. I’ve not gotten anything back yet. I just said we wanted the mare and have a place to put her, and we’ll pay the 100$.
My former BO sold an old standardbred to a bad place with no shelter and barbed wire:mad:. She was going to give him away but a rescue woman emailed her and told her to at least get 100$ for him. Not a good home for the nice old horse, but the college equestrian team director would not take him back off of a free lease, and the old gelding did not like my horse so I couldn’t take him.
This thread makes me happy. COTH folks rock! I haven’t heard back from the owners yet, hope we hear back soon!

Not sure who wants to swing by and see my farm, but I am home from 9:00 to 12 ish. My big horse is getting shod…SO only does trims, and my big guy needs special shoes. So the man of the house, myself, and my back up blacksmith will be here. Is there an email I can send my address to? I am in awe of the COTH right now…I have been lurking for a while and was turned off by some nasty threads. But I kept coming back because it wasn’t the majority. I know vet bills can run up quick, but we do what we can.
I can swing by around 10-10:30 if that works…will pm you my email add

This is great! I hope the mare realizes when she gets on the trailer that she is in for a great old age retirement.
She may need a blanket. Someone measure her when she arrives at Bluengrey’s farm. I keep getting all the “gray” and “grey” 's confused.
