How about a matchy matchy fashion show thread?

Thank you :slight_smile::slight_smile:

I succumbed once again to the temptation of their customized pads on sale, with free shipping. It will be March til I see them, but we needed a second pad for showing with a bolder green trim. And since I’m ordering that, why not a jump pad as well…

The ones I have purchased over the last couple years have held up very well and always get compliments. They’re almost all I use anymore, besides the one Lemieux. An ES is on the way, we’ll see how that works.

Ohhh Im so jealous. I was THIS CLOSE to getting in on that sale, but I’m still on the fence what XC colours to make for my grey mare so I couldn’t decide what colours to do lol

What did you end up getting?

Stunning horse! Love her face markings too, that’s a nice color on her.

I caved and bought the Golden Brass set last night… I did not need another saddle pad, especially not one sheepskin backed… but here I am…

oh what an unfortunate tragedy :joy: cant wait to see your pics when you get it! Sheepskin lined too? Spoiled ponies!

I can never take good photos of my horses. I have a horse who is objectively conformationally correct according to her registry of choice… but you’d never know it by my photos – she either looks like a moose or a donkey when I photograph her! You’ll have to give me pointers since yours always turn out great.

And the sheepskin lined I wish I could say was frivolous but, one of my horses has KS maintained with various therapies – the sheepskin directly on his back really seems to help.

I like to use sheepskin on the back directly too but only in the fall/winter for me.

It definitely takes practice for good pics. Repetition and patience seems to the be only thing that works for me over time for nice pics lol

Try holding your Camera at the middle of the barrel, and perpendicular to the horse. If possible have front leg closest to the Camera a bit ahead of the other front leg to improve the shoulder angle.
Try offering a treat to get them to stretch their necks forward and a bit down.

But mostly if you get a picture perpendicular and parallel to the barrel you won’t get the moose head or disappearing butt look.

If you’re using a cell phone camera, that will contribute a lot to the weird conformation thing- most cell phone cameras are very wide angle, so you get the fish eye effect (head too big, if the horse is off-angle with their head toward you). If you have one of the fancier cell phones with a telephoto lens, they are a tighter angle and don’t distort so much.

From the ES sale, I bought one of the Aurora Blue pads.

For the Mattes Hufglocken, I did a variant on what I already have for showing, which is a green/grey theme on my chestnut.

That one is silver with black trim and silver and green piping and I do love it, so it will probably become my “local show” pad now. The one I ordered is also silver as a base color, but with green trim and two colors of green and a silver as piping. I wanted the green to pop a little more, to coordinate more obviously with the bonnet and coat  The breeches look almost white there, but they’re actually a silvery grey. It’s been a nice subtle variant on color that’s worked well and OMG the grey breeches are so much easier to keep clean!

oh I can’t wait to see how they turn out! I’m debating ordering some green, I like the sage green but it’s only available on the non cotton. I need to see more pics of what it looks like in person.

I like the sage, too, I have the sage LeMieux. The jade also looked lovely, but I didn’t really want velvet which seems heavy and hard to keep clean.

The jump pad I got in Ocean, and I’m very curious to see what it looks like in person. Their Petrol was not quite what I expected, but looks spectacular on a chestnut. I have green, emerald, and racing green from too, and think the Emerald is maybe my favorite color ever. But it’s hard to find things to coordinate with.

The trick for great phone photos is to back away from the horse to take the pic - don’t stand close. That minimizes the fisheye effect. You then crop or zoom in to fill the frame.

Our trainer has abandoned us for Florida so here is a schooling photo of the Equestrian Stockholm (I am obsessed) top and vest in the amaranth color. I have the saddle pad and polos too, but those only come out for lessons.

The breeches are the Ariat halos which of all breeches imo look the most decent worn in civilian life after a ride.

The Golden Brass F/S set from Equestrian Stockholm arrived. This is my first pad from them and I’m impressed. I love the backing. Does anyone know what kind of textile it is? The fly bonnets are a soft thin material. The crown piece portion is too small for my gelding, but he is traditionally between sizes and likely needed an O/S.

I tried it on Holden yesterday. He did indulge me with a short hack even though he’s technically on winter vacation. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

oh my gosh he is such a cutie! Such a great colour on a winter bay. What’s the material underneath like?

Thank you! He’s a good boy. The best I can describe the material is it visually looks like large mesh, but it’s soft and almost feels foam-filled. It seems like it’d be very forgiving.

Ok, but you failed to mention the best part. I want to know what your BOOTS are!
