lovely! Teal and purple is so good on your guy. Is that a leather harness and leather seat? How do you prepare and clean your tack for all the splash?
By not using leather! That’s a synthetic harness. A good beta harness is hard to tell from leather until it comes to cleaning time. Then I dump everything but the saddle into a muck bucket of suds.
(Technically it’s Hunter green and purple, but that shirt definitely looks teal in the pic, here’s another lol)
You jest but I could probably do one better… My car is the same color. Burgundy is a special color to me, it was my first event horse’s XC colors. So over the last couple decades, I’ve collected a fair bit of burgundy items. Sometimes friends see things that are burgundy and surprise me too, like that Lettia set, which was a gift. Even though he is no longer around, it reminds me of how special he was.
ahhh! now i’m not cringing at your photos ;). Hunter-purple… what a fantastic turnout!!
Ohhh??? Stunning!! Where?
Thanks. Now I’m jonesing for Hersheys Kisses.
If you ever had to clean the carriage, you would still be cringing…
I have no idea how to get it. It’s from Eskadron and pretty hard to get even in Germany. I recently got one and it looks totally amazing on my dark bay mares…
i used to drive a couple of my Morgans. The high wheel cart was all wood, and omg…the maintenance was not fun. Only drove on the gravel roads and rarely after a rain…and still it was a lot of work. I still have both that and the pasture cart. Maybe someday i’ll get back into it again. I’ve fitted my Standardbred and cleaned up the harness…and he’s almost 5 and can be ridden. So…
I did some googling, and, uh oh…
Note the name of the website.
I love that place, great deals
Can your grey even take a bad photo?? Who is this one?
haha she was standing like a weirdo here too with her arm out but she is pretty cute (I’m biased). I call her my Flamingo because shes so flexible and has her legs all over all the time haha
So this is Emmy, JC: Flamenco Dancer. I have had her a few years but she was very underweight and malnourished when I picked her up at Woodbine. Her owners were very sweet but kind of back yard owners and she only got grain (just beet pulp) for the 2 weeks before a race. So needless to say she was very thin and her feet were terrible. It took 6 months for her to even need her first trim, another year and a half at least to grow out something of a foot and continuous abscesses and then a sore back from sore feet. Finally this spring her foot were strong enough to put front shoes on and she has never looked back, on a 4 week trim cycle now and her back is all better. I did a lot of mastersons method with her which helped immensely. So now we are just working on basics and building muscle and strength for now.
She is the sweetest mare and really willing and incredibly athletic. I’m really excited for what she will become. Shes going to be special. Sorry for the novel just wanted to share all the history ahha
Oh, I love the name Flamingo… they are one of my favorite birds (basic, I know). They remind me of my grandmother, who had them all over her house when I was a kid.
How lucky she ended up with a soft landing and upgrade. Looking at the photos you have shared of her, I don’t think anyone would be able to tell she had once been in tough conditions. I peeked t PQ, is this the 2013 version? If so, I’ve not heard of her sire but wow, really interested in him. That is a great page for an eventer. Hennessy, Phone Trick, and Sadlers Wells all on the first page has got to make a brilliant horse. And the damside is no slouch when it comes to eventing either. Love seeing Deputy Minister and Timeless Moment especially, he’s getting further back these days.
I like the expression Emmy is making in the last photo. I get that look from Holden too – “mom, are you done??”
Yes this is her! https://www.pedigreequery.com/flamenco+dancer5
I had never seen or heard of her sire before but one from him went through the Thoroughbred Rehomers in Ontario and Momo Laframboise scooped him up so I’m excited to see what she does with him, he’s a lot like my Emmy.
I have 2 others that are Deputy Minister and so I’m pretty much on the DM bandwagon now, all three of them have the best temperaments and work ethic and are above average movers.
I had actually bought her sight unseen, a friend who I have gotten horses from in the past would groom her at the track occasionally and school her in the winters. I saw her in her videos and she was really tiny then, only 15h at most. I’m 5’2 so I thought she was the perfect size and asked her to let me know when she was done racing. True to her word, she contacted me and it was perfect timing because I had just put my gelding down which was really a hard time for me, so she came at just the right time.
I’m lucky to have the option of just letting them down for a long time if needed and I really think she could have had a rough go if she ended up elsewhere because she would have tried so hard but likely ended up crippled with her old feet.
If you consider that dirty, you are never allowed to come ride with me!!
I love your matchy matchy. Lemieux products make my heart skip a beat.
As a short legged person, can you tell me what make/model your dressage saddle is?
Also, I have requested to follow you on Insta.
