How are your 2011 yearlings doing?

My filly is 13 months. She’s about 14.3 at the withers, almost 15 at the rump. Dad is 15, mom is 15.2.

Confo Sorry, hard to get a good shot by myself–have to tie her, position her, and hope she holds still long enough to get a picture!

I’m not including any of her rather unfortunate profile… She doesn’t have the prettiest head in the world, but oh well…

She has her naughty moments, but on the whole she’s a very good girl.

WOW Edgewood, beautiful yearlings! Perfect condition and lovely manners. And what a property!

So many gorgeous yearlings looking like mature horses already!

Ours are very growthy so while healthy are a bit ribby which is fine.

Surely others have yearlings thy are keeping slim as well?

I assume there are many and like me they are not posting photos.

My Hanoverian x Paint is going to be 14 months next week. He is growing like a weed. We go from handsome to akward every other day

Amastrike, the piglet is growing up so nicely!!! I LIKE her head! No it’s probably not going to be a gorgeous girl-head, but it’s not coarse or homely either. I quite like it

The sire of both our foals is our APHA stallion White Tie Affair; he is 16H.
Dam of the filly (now named Winter Skye) is a 15.1H stock horse mare: she was 13.3 when I sold her at 11 mos old and was 14.2 in April when her buyer last sticked her in April at 14 mos old. Walter is out of a Hanno/TB mare Wynona. Wynona is barely 16H at coming 4. She is a beefcake too so I don’t think she has a lot of height left in her. I have not sticked Walter recently…he is 10 months old and I would eyeball him at about 13.3. (updated: I sticked him and the eyeball was correct…13.3 in front/14H behind) .He was a tiny/preemie (underbaked looking) little dude at birth but has been growing like a weed the past few months/catching up. I think both foals will end up at about 16H. Walter impaled his chest and sustained a hideous wound about 2 months ago…the vet thought it would not even have much of a scar in the end…I was not nearly as optomistic. Thankfully I am wrong…we are down to a nickle sized pucker in the skin now and even that seems to be improving

This time next week my 2011 will be tucked into her stall at the Devon horse show!!! I can’t believe it.[/QUOTE]

Is tomorrow the big day? Good luck!

Thanks, I’m quite happy with how she’s turning out :). She looks soooo much better now that she’s shed out. She was pretty darn unattractive when she was wearing her winter woolies. But shhhhhh, don’t tell her she’s not ugly! I keep warning her that she needs to have good manners because she doesn’t have good looks to fall back on .

Royal Blue - what colour is he?

Thank you Kerole on all accounts! My husband and I try hard to make our property nice. And my yearlings are turning out nice too.

Kerole - He is a Red Roan Sabino

Edgewood - Off track I know, but what is that adorable cute stone building?

That is called the smokehouse. I guess a 100 years ago they smoked meats in there. We repaired the corner (stones were falling out so a mason repaired) and now we store jumps and bedding in there.

Here’s my yearling:

I love her more and more actually, I’m even thinking of bringing her to Devon in the fall! We’ll see…

She’s really lovely! Sir Wanabi is putting some really beautiful foals on the ground! I loved him when I saw him at DAD:D

Thank you! This filly is really special to me, she exceeded all my expectations. I would love to bring her to DAD, but I want to make sure she would have a shot at doing well since it is such a long trip for us.

Everyone has such beautiful yearlings!!!

Here is a picture(s) of my 12 1/2 month old Padinus (Heartbreaker X Grannus) filly. She was 14.3hh the last time she was measured. I think she will finish in the 16.3hh+ range. (Dam is 17.3hh and sire was 16.2hh I believe)

Here is my 11 1/2 month old colt by Pablo o/o an Oxford (Burggraaf X Voltaire) mare. He was 13.2 1/2 the last time he was measured. I expect him to finish in the 16-16.1hh range. (Both parents are 16.1hh+)

A few from Devon.

Here is kind of a neat video of my two Wolkentanz II yearlings we took a few days ago. They are a bit gangly but as you can see, loving life!

Donella - that video was too cool. I’ve learned a few tricks for my next marketing vid thanks! Your horses are indeed living the high life, and look very happy for it.
