Ah ok I see. Thanks.
I’m not sure why he was meeting with a parole officer, or what his crime was.
I know of lots of criminals who skate, who never pay the price for a crime they’re guilty
of, so… It’s not an excuse, it’s a spotlight on the hypocrisy.
At least to me.
.
I do want to make clear - I’m not defending this particular guy - if he committed one of the crimes that would get him deported under normal circumstances, then he should have been deported. But we’ve had many many people caught up in the fray when what was promised was that it was “only the bad guys”.
I had several people who rely on migrant labor for their businesses (roofing & landscaping) insist that they weren’t going to go after “their” guys, it was only the bad ones and the ones in New York who were “lazy” (no idea where they got this particular information).
This, we’re finding, is not the case.
Who promised that?
Somebody who lies all the time?
Exactly.
And his supporters

I feel like those guys are either wildly optimistic, or trying to put a good face on it.
Either way, they know they will not be the ones who will end up in a holding cell.
This is not exactly horse related except for the fact my horses are watching. We are having a new roof installed as I type. (It is so loud!) All the workers are Hispanic. Four years ago, we added on to our house. All of the workers, from the foundation crew to sheet rock crew were Hispanic.
The issue of labor goes way beyond horses. Of course, many have mentioned this already, but I wanted to give real-life examples.
One of the people who commented in the article linked above regarding race horses claimed that Trump was unlikely to go after the horse industry since Trump himself employs plenty of immigrants in various roles in his own businesses in the hospitality industry.
But again, I think that person is being either obtuse or wildly optimistic.
Those little things that appear when you hit the letters on a keyboard.
I posted before that I know Jorge and that he was a good guy. That’s what a lot of people thought, including the many vets and farriers who donated to the GFM. It turns out you never know about some people, no matter the facade: ICE Newark arrests Mexican national convicted for sex crimes against minor | ICE
Unfortunately, this reflects badly on others targeted by ICE.
yeah no. that’s not what she meant but thanks for the not only unneccessary but totally unprovoked snark.
Gee when i saw the notification from you i thought you actually had something of value to add. How disappointing.

I hope this serves as a reminder to check available data bases for information on people and service providers visiting our barns and often homes
I have a green card, and they make it very clear when you get it that it’ll be revoked if you commit a crime. I’m not sure why this farrier was allowed to keep his for as long as he did.
especially for a crime like that.
We had been told (by the NYT) that there are more than a million illegal immigrants in the US with final Orders of Deportation that simply weren’t being acted on. Maybe he was one of those since this conviction was relatively recent (2024)? Or maybe it wasn’t final yet for the same reason. Or maybe they didn’t care at all, who knows, but I do know the process takes time. Why he wasn’t in a prison with that recent conviction is another matter!
Imho he should have been taken straight to the airport or put on the next bus back to wherever he came from as soon as he was released from jail or prison or wherever he was.
It’s so hard to really know someone, especially when you see them at shows/at work/etc. plenty of serial killers seem like good guys until you find them with a fridge full of half-eaten bodies!
